Sensorineural hearing loss is the most common type of hearing loss worldwide, yet the underlying cause is typically unknown because the inner ear cannot be biopsied today without destroying hearing, and intracochlear cells have not been imaged with resolut ...

An imaging based interferometric pressure sensor apparatus compromise a fluid pressure sensor unit (1) and an optical monitor (2). The disposable pressure sensor part comprises a rigid transparent cover plate 3 and a flexible diaphragm (4), in between form ...

We presented a tunable optofluidic dye laser with integrated elastomeric air-gap etalon controlled by air pressure. The chip was fabricated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) via replica molding. It comprises a liquid waveguide and microscale air-gap mirrors ...

We demonstrate a simple approach for inline holographic coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy, in which a layer of uniform nonlinear medium is placed in front of a specimen to be imaged. The reference wave created by four-wave mixing in t ...

Acquiring high-contrast optical images deep inside biological tissues is still a challenging problem. Confocal microscopy is an important tool for biomedical imaging since it improves image quality by rejecting background signals. However, it suffers from ...

Optical diffraction tomography (ODT) allows one to quantitatively measure the distribution of the refractive index of the sample. It relies on the resolution of an inverse scattering problem. Due to the limited range of views as well as optical aberrations ...

Tomographic phase microscopy (TPM) in flow cytometry is one of the most promising computational imaging techniques for the quantitative 3-dimensional (3D) analysis of unstained single cells. Continuous cells' flow, combined with the stain-free mode, can as ...

We demonstrate imaging of blood cells enclosed in chicken skin tissue using speckle scanning microscopy (SSM). Clear images of multiple cells were obtained with subcellular resolution and good image fidelity, provided that the object dimension was smaller ...

Wavefront shaping methods by spatial light modulators, have been an invaluable tool for a plethora of applications in photonics of complex media [1]. In fact in a series of ground-breaking experiments, reverse propagation by phase conjugation was used to c ...

Light propagation in multimode fibers is typically assumed to be extremely sensitive to changes in geometry. We study here a particular configuration where an S-shaped bend is translated between two sections of fiber. In this sliding bend configuration, we ...

The present invention is related to an endoscopic system for phase imaging, comprising a multicore waveguide (080), an optical system comprising at least one first light source (002), for illuminating the sample to be examined, a first camera (010) that is ...

Luminescent markers play a key role in imaging techniques for life sciences since they provide a contrast mechanism between signal and background. We describe a new type of marker using second harmonic generation (SHG) from noncentrosymmetric BaTiO3 nanocr ...

It is theoretically shown that by superimposing diffraction-free solutions of the Helmholtz equation, one can construct localized diffraction-free beams that pass through predetermined points on subwavelength distances. These beams are based on the phenome ...

Electrolyser including a reactor (2) comprising a housing (4), fluidic channels (6a, 6b, 6c) within the housing, and electrodes (16a, 16c) comprising an anode (16a) and a cathode (16c). The fluidic channels include an inter-electrode channel (6b) arranged ...

Modern machine learning models use an ever-increasing number of parameters to train (175 x 10(9) parameters for GPT-3) with large datasets to achieve better performance. Optical computing has been rediscovered as a potential solution for large-scale data p ...

We report the demonstration of low order distributed feedback (DFB) optofluidic dye lasers with reduced threshold. The laser chips were realized in polydimethylsiloxane using replica molding with two masters. A comparison between first, second, and third o ...

Linear optics based nanoscopy previously reached resolution beyond the diffraction limit, illuminating samples in the visible light regime while allowing light to interact with freely moving metallic nanoparticles. However, the hydrodynamics governing the ...

One aspect of the present invention proposes a method of predicting meteorological information by using an artificial deep neural network. The present invention according to one example focuses on image processing, specifically on fusing a plurality of ima ...

Periodic structures in optics, like gratings or photonic crystals have played a pivotal role in both basic and applied research applications over the decades [1]. As far as, integrated photonics is concerned, another highly relevant optical structure, that ...

Spatiotemporal nonlinear interactions in multimode fibers are of interest for beam shaping and frequency conversion by exploiting the nonlinear interaction of different pump modes from quasi-continuous wave to ultrashort pulses centered around visible to i ...
