The integration of color filters with microfluidics has attracted substantial attention in recent years, for on-chip absorption, fluorescence, or Raman analysis. We describe such tunable filters based on the micro-flow of liquid crystals. The filter operat ...

We report an innovative technique for the visualization of cells through an overlying scattering medium by combining femtosecond laser bone ablation and two-photon excitation fluorescence (TPEF) microscopy. We demonstrate the technique by imaging hair cell ...

Drop-on-demand inkjet printing is mostly based on thermal and piezo-actuation, allowing for densely packed nozzles in inkjet printers. However, the droplet diameter is typically defined by the nozzle diameter, thus limiting the range of viscosity that can ...

We describe a reconfigurable lighting system for indoor solar illumination which provides a new way for solar energy conservation. We have experimentally demonstrated an electrically tunable optofluidic light switch which takes the key role for the reconfi ...

We propose a computational method for controlling the output of a multimode fiber using machine learning. Arbitrary images can be projected with amplitude-only calibration (no phase measurement) and fidelities on par with conventional full-measurement meth ...

High-resolution imaging in thick biological tissues beyond a few transport mean free path of photons remains a formidable challenge to modern science and technology. Recent advancements in optical tomography have enabled the reconstruction of the three-dim ...

We present an optofluidic chip with integrated polymer interferometers for measuring both the microfluidic air pressure and flow rate. The chip contains a microfluidic circuit and optical cavities on a polymer which was defined by soft lithography. The pre ...

Current optical storage devices such as DVDs have their read/write capabilities fundamentally restricted by the diffraction limit of light. We present an optofluidic architecture for storing cocktails of colloidal quantum dots in electroactive nanowell str ...

We present a novel image-based method to measure the on-chip microfluidic pressure and flow rate simultaneously by using the integrated optofluidic membrane interferometers (OMIs). The device was constructed with two layers of structured polydimethylsiloxa ...

Improving the throughput of electrochemical reactions such as water electrolysis is an ongoing effort. In a membrane-less electrolyzer, product separation can be achieved via controlled two-phase flows within the electrochemical flow cells. In this case, i ...

We demonstrate focusing coherent light on a nanoparticle through turbid media based on digital optical phase conjugation of second harmonic generation (SHG) field from the nanoparticle. A SHG active nanoparticle inside a turbid medium was excited at the fu ...

Due to their high number of supported modes, multimode optical fibers carry large amount of spatio-temporal information. However, propagation of a light pulse through a multimode optical fiber suffers from spatial distortions due to superposition of the va ...

Caravaca-Aguirre et al.Wide-field optical-resolution microscopy with structured illumination and single-pixel detection has been the topic of a number of research investigations. Its advantages over point scanning approaches are many and include a faster a ...

Despite remarkable progresses in quantitative phase imaging (QPI) microscopes, their wide acceptance is limited due to the lack of specificity compared with the well-established fluorescence microscopy. In fact, the absence of fluorescent tag prevents to i ...

A device for optical computing comprises at least one modulator (210, 710, 810, 910, 1010, 1110, 1210, 1310, 1410, 1520, 1610, 1710, 1810, 1910, 2010, 2110, 2210) and at least one waveguide (220, 720, 820, 920, 1020, 1120, 1220, 1320, 1420, 1530, 1620, 172 ...

A new approach to optical diffraction tomography (ODT) based on intensity measurements is presented. By applying the Wolf transform directly to intensity measurements, we observed unexpected behavior in the 3D reconstruction of the sample. Such a reconstru ...

Surfaces -defined as the interfaces between solids and liquids- have attracted much attention in optics and biology, such as total internal reflection imaging (TIRF) and DNA microarrays. Within the context of optofluidics however, surfaces have received li ...

The accurate identification of the three-dimensional quantitative shape of a cell nucleus is now possible without fluorescent staining by applying computational segmentation to refractive index tomograms recorded in the flow cytometry mode. ...

We demonstrate an optofluidic evanescent laser based on a solid circular distributed feedback grating with the dye solution acting as the cladding layer. The laser mode is confined within the grating and experiences optical gain via the interaction between ...

We demonstrate high power ultrashort pulse delivery through a commercially available multicore fiber (MCF) and a multimode graded-index fiber (GRINF) for imaging and laser ablation. Lensless focusing and digital scanning of ultrashort pulses through the op ...
