A comparison between engineered and commercially available L-lactate oxidases from Aerococcus viridans was conducted for biosensing applications. Enzymes were adsorbed onto the surfaces of graphite electrodes modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Th ...

Accurate power and performance figures are critical to assess the effective design of possible sensor node architectures in Body Area Networks (BANs) since they operate on limited energy storage. Therefore, accurate power models and simulation tools that c ...

Garbled circuit (GC) is one of the few promising protocols to realize general-purpose secure computation. The target computation is represented by a Boolean circuit that is subsequently transformed into a network of encrypted tables for execution. The need ...

In this paper, we present the design, the implementation and the validation of a novel Internet of Things (IoT) drug monitoring system for the online continuous and simultaneous detection of two main anesthetics, e.g., propofol and paracetamol, in undilute ...

This work targets fault-tolerant quantum computing and focuses on the problem of mapping reversible circuits into the Clifford+T quantum gate library. We present an automatically-generated database containing minimal-cost quantum circuits for Boolean funct ...

Drug development and personalized therapy require accurate and frequent monitoring of the metabolic response by living tissues to treatments. In case of high risk side effects, e.g. therapies with interfering anti-cancer molecule cocktails, direct monitori ...

This work presents tweedledum-an extensible open-source library aiming at narrowing the gap between high-level algorithms and physical devices by enhancing the expressive power of existing frameworks. For example, it allows designers to insert classical lo ...

Superconductive electronics is a promising candidate for supplementing or replacing existing CMOS VLSI systems. Rapid single-flux quantum (RSFQ) is one of the most advanced superconductive technologies operating at tens of gigahertz while reducing the oper ...

This brief presents a novel power-gating technique for differential cascade voltage switch logic (DCVSL) based on double-gate (DG) controllable-polarity field-effect transistors (FETs). DG controllable-polarity FETs, commonly referred to as ambipolar trans ...

Recently, several emerging technologies have been reported as potential candidates for controllable ambipolar devices. Controllable ambipolarity is a desirable property that enables the on-line configurability of n-type and p-type device polarity. In this ...

Adiabatic quantum-flux parametron (AQFP) is an energy-efficient superconducting technology. Before physical design can be performed, AQFP technology mapping involves not only mapping logic into supported gate types but also legalizing the circuit to fulfil ...

Die-temperature control to avoid hotspots is increasingly critical in Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoCs) for stream computing. In this context, thermal balancing policies based on task migration are a promising approach to re-distribute power dissipati ...

Approximate multipliers (AppMults) are widely employed in deep neural network (DNN) accelerators to reduce the area, delay, and power consumption. However, the inaccuracies of AppMults degrade DNN accuracy, necessitating a retraining process to recover acc ...

With the increasing availability of experimental data on gene-gene and protein-protein interactions, modeling of gene regulatory networks has gained a special attention lately. To have a better understanding of these networks it is necessary to capture the ...

We fabricated and characterized ambipolar Silicon Nanowire (SiNW) FET transistors featuring two independent Gate-All-Around (GAA) electrodes and vertically stacked SiNW channels. One of the gate electrodes is exploited to dynamically select the polarity of ...

Current Systems-On-Chip (SoC) execute applications that demand extensive parallel processing; thus, the amount of processors, memories and application-specific signal pro- cessing cores is rapidly increasing. In these new Multi- Processor SoCs, (MPSoCs) on ...

Monitoring patients in intensive care units is generally expensive and time consuming. A prompter medical intervention for those critical patients is a key factor for their safety. Therefore, a system that offers immediate visualization of the monitored da ...

In recent years, we have observed spectacular advancements in the area of nano-circuits and systems at several levels, from the fabrication material and device levels to the system and application levels. New emerging materials provide us with a wealth of ...

Nanometer CMOS scaling has resulted in greatly increased circuit variability, with extremely adverse consequences on design predictability and yield. A number of recent works have focused on adaptive post-fabrication tuning approaches to mitigate this prob ...

Brain-inspired Hyperdimensional (HD) computing is a promising solution for energy-efficient classification. However, the existing HD computing algorithms have a lack of controllability on the training iterations which often results in slow training or dive ...
