Motivation: Understanding gene regulation in biological processes and modeling the robustness of underlying regulatory networks is an important problem that is currently being addressed by computational systems biologists. Lately, there has been a renewed ...

Lexicographic Boolean satisfiability (LEXSAT) is a variation of the Boolean satisfiability problem (SAT). Given a variable order, LEXSAT finds a satisfying assignment whose integer value under the given variable order is minimum (maximum) among all satisfi ...

Dual-independent-gate silicon FinFET has demonstrated a steep subthreshold slope (SS) when a positive feedback induced by weak impact ionization is triggered. In this paper, we study the temperature dependency of the steep SS by characterizing the fabricat ...

The research on ion-measuring devices has seen a rapid expansion in the last years as a consequence of the growing interest in wearable sensors for biofluids analysis and in portable devices for remote or in-line water and food quality monitoring. As a res ...

We have designed and fabricated double-gate ambipolar field-effect transistors, which exhibit p-type and n-type characteristics by controlling the polarity of the second gate. In this work, we present an approach for designing an efficient regular layout, ...

A Majority-Inverter Graph (MIG) is a homogeneous logic network, where each node represents the majority function. Recently, a logic optimization package based on the MIG data-structure, with 3-input majority node (M3) has been proposed [2], [30]. It is dem ...

Nanoscale devices exhibiting memristive properties show great potential in a plethora of applications. In this work, memristive nanowires are presented for the first time as ideal candidates for absolutely novel, ultrasensitive, highly specific and selecti ...

Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM)-based routing multiplexers, built using a one-level structure, are significantly more delay efficient than state-of-art SRAM-based implementations thanks to their lower achievable on-state resistance. In addition, the ...

During medical treatment it is critical to maintain the circulatory concentration of drugs within their therapeutic range. A novel biosensor is presented in this work to address the lack of a reliable point-of-care drug monitoring system in the market. The ...

Nanostructured biosensors with the aim of electroactive cancer-drug detection were investigated. The aim of this work is improvement of the sensitivity and limit of detection of two differently nanostructured biosensors to find out the best choice for quan ...

We introduce two methods for quantifying and evaluating the amount of surface receptors within a group of cells from fluorescence microscope images. First, the average fluorescence intensity method (AFIM), based on the fluores- cent pixels average intensit ...

A major hurdle to the deployment of quantum linear systems algorithms and recent quantum simulation algorithms lies in the difficulty to find inexpensive reversible circuits for arithmetic using existing hand coded methods. Motivated by recent advances in ...

Nowadays, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) exploit Look-Up Tables (LUTs) to generate logic functions. A K-input LUT can implement any Boolean functions with K inputs. Thanks to this flexibility, LUTs remained concep ...

In this paper, we establish a non-trivial duality between tautology and contradiction check to speed up circuit SAT. Tautology check determines if a logic circuit is true in every possible interpretation. Analogously, contradiction check dete ...

A Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) of the island-type comprising a plurality of cluster-based Configurable Logic Blocks (CLBs), whereby each of the cluster-based CLBs is surrounded by a global routing structure formed by a plurality of multiplexers and ...

Carbon nanotubes improve the sensitivity of electrochemical biochips. An optimized integration of the nano/bio/CMOS interface is required to realize accurate and low-cost sensors for applications in personalized medicine. The nanotubes orientation on the c ...

A new application in the nano-biosensing field gives proof that the coupling of nanofabricated wires exhibiting mem- ristive electrical characteristics and DNA-aptamers, may provide definitely innovative nano-bio-sensors for ultrasensitive label-free detec ...

We present a multi-level logic refactoring algorithm based on exclusive sum-of-product (ESOP) expressions. ESOP expressions are two-level logic representation forms, similar to sum of -product (SOP) expressions. However, ESOPs use EXOR instead of OR operat ...

Ten years ago, at 90 nanometers, EDA was challenged and deemed inadequate in dealing with increasing complexity, power consumption, and sub-wavelength lithography, thus harming the progress of mobile phones. Today, at 10 nanometers, integration capacity ha ...
