The vulnerability against interference, spoofing, and jamming of GNSS receivers is considered nowadays a major security concern. This security threat is exacerbated with the existing market availability of GPS jamming and spoofing equipment sold at reasona ...

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based navigation is already adopted in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), where the presence of strong GNSS signals and the good relative geometry between the receiver and the transmitters enable precise orbit determination. H ...

One of the method to have a fast acquisition of GNSS signals is the parallel code-phase search, which uses the fast Fourier transform (FFT) to perform the correlation. A problem with this method is the potential sign transition that can happen between two ...

We propose a low complexity image recognition algorithm based on Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) suitable for handheld applications. The target application is an Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) device used in speech rehabilitation and ...

In our previous studies, we demonstrated that Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals can be processed, not only in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), but also in higher earth orbits, up to the Moon. In order to maximize the GNSSbased navigation performance, ...

A quadrature oscillator based on a coupling between the bulk and the source of MOS transistors is proposed. Since the resonator load is not directly involved in the coupling process, the oscillation frequency is very close to the resonant frequency, hence ...

In this paper, the design of a low-noise amplifier (LNA) for a 32x32 pixel microelectrode array (MEA) is presented. Its gain and noise amount to 50 dB and 10 μVrms, respectively, at a bandwidth of 66 kHz. The LNA consumes less than 85 μW. The integrated of ...

In this paper, different correlation techniques (narrow correlator, double delta correlator and subcarrier processing) that can be applied to the new Galileo alternate binary offset carrier AltBOC(15,10) modulation are discussed with respect to their funct ...

We explore a miniature sensor node that could be placed in an environment which would interrogate, take decisions and transmit autonomously and seamlessly without the need of a battery. With the system completely powered by an energy harvester for autonomo ...

In this work we present an instrumented smart knee prosthesis for in-vivo measurement of forces and kinematics. Studying the constraints, we designed minimal sensory systems to be placed in the polyethylene part of the prosthesis. The magnetic sensors and ...

This paper presents a design methodology for common-mode (CM) stability of operational transconductance amplifier (OTA)-based gyrators. The topology of gm−C active inductors is briefly reviewed. Subsequently, a comprehensive mathematical analysis on the CM s ...

This paper describes some of the design experiences achieved during the design, simulation and characterization of a Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) LNA which has been designed for 24GHz and fabricated in a standard 0.180 µm technology. More ...

A wireless sensor platform for use in ultralow-power wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is presented. The proposed round sensor (RoSe) node is physically robust, is resistant to humidity, and has a housing that can be in direct contact with food. These charac ...

We are developing an Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) portable device called PictoBar which is used in speech rehabilitation therapy. PictoBar recognizes barcodes and images, such as pictograms and pictures. Then it plays a sound message as ...

This paper describes a converter which configures itself to increase power transfer and decrease losses. The system controls its three timing variables by three loops in a stable manner. A time domain state-space averaging model is used to design the syste ...

A troubleshooting method for debugging wireless sensor nodes using measurements of the supply current waveform and logic outputs is presented. The troubleshooting and debugging technique uses the supply current waveform in conjunction with the measurement ...

Moisture content in the soil and snow in the alpine environment is an important factor, not only for environmentally oriented research, but also for decision making in agriculture and hazard management. Current observation techniques quantifying soil moist ...

The paper presents a low power and low chip area decimation filter for a 15-bits Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed for a flywheel MEMS gyroscope. In contrary to typical solutions, in which decimation is performed after each filtering stage, in ...

Challenges and current status of algorithms of code and carrier generation and baseband processing, including single-instruction multiptle-data (SIMD) operations and bit-wise processing. ...

We propose a fast and efficient method for Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) which uses color densities within concentric circular zones of the image, encompassing edge-pixels. This method is invariant to Rotation, Scale and Translation (RST). Small-siz ...
