This paper describes a design procedure for an efficient body thermal energy harvesting integrated power converter. This procedure is based on loss examination for a self-powered medical device. All optimum system parameters are calculated respecting the t ...

An Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) using the low duty-cycle nature of pulse-based Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) communications to reduce its power consumption is proposed. Implemented in CMOS 180 nm technology, it can capture a 5 ns window at 4 GS/s each 100 ns, ...

Nowadays, global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) are used for many new applications that go further than the original goal of providing position, velocity and timing for land, maritime and air applications. In particular, GNSS receivers have been adop ...

This paper brings additional light on the previously proposed two-step tracking algorithm for E1 CBOC tracking. More specifically, assessment of the different DLL and PLL tracking loop architectures are analyzed, taking into consideration coherent and non- ...

The acquisition of Global Navigation Satellite Systems signals using Code Division Multiple Access can be performed through classical correlation or using a Fourier transform. These methods are well known but what is missing is a comparison of their perfor ...

This paper describes the development of a sport watch, as well as the software and hardware required to design an integrated solution for getting feedback during and after walking and running activities. The developed system is autonomous, so that neither ...

A new technique, Amplifier and Comparator Based Switched Capacitor (ACBSC) for low voltage switched cap circuits, is presented. ACBSC combines the recently introduced CBSC (comparator based switched capacitor circuit) with an amplifier. The current sources ...

The design of a programmable receiver for an ultra wideband (UWB) communication is presented. The receiver is using a fast analog to digital converter (ADC) and a field programmable gate array (FPGA) allowing a rapid performance evaluation for various syst ...

This paper describes a generalisation of the aeronautical GNSS Space Based Augmentation System (SBAS) air interface, in a true worldwide multimodal standard named Universal S-BAS. Examples of usages of this multifrequency future standard are presented in t ...

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs) were originally introduced to provide positioning and timing services for terrestrial Earth users. However, space users increasingly rely on GNSS for spacecraft navigation and other science applications at severa ...

It is well known that reflected signals from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) can be used for altimetry applications, such as monitoring of water levels and determining snow height. Due to the interference of these reflected signals and the motio ...

This paper presents a new power efficient asynchronous multiplexer(MUX) for application in analog front-endelectronics(AFE) used in X-ray medical imaging systems. Contrary to typica lsynchronous MUXes that have to be controlled by a clock, this circuit fea ...

In this work, we evaluate the exploration of the Solar system by ad-hoc wireless sensor networks (WSN), i.e. networks where all nodes (either moving or stationary) can both provide and relay data. The two aspects of self-organization and localization are t ...

GNSS platforms such as the American Global Positioning System (GPS) or the Russian GLONASS system are being continuously updated with new satellites offering new signals, new frequencies and new functionalities. Moreover, new GNSS systems such as the Europ ...

The invention concerns a wireless data communication method, wherein a transmitter device (2) having a first broadband antenna (27) transmits ultra wideband coded data signals to a receiver device (3) having a second broadband antenna (37) for receiving th ...

A new offset reduction strategy for CMOS Hall devices is proposed. The novelty is to fragment the Hall device into multiple Hall blocks, distributed over the silicon area and easy to interconnect. The suitable number of Hall blocks and the bias current lev ...

This paper presents the design, realization and characterization of a new hybrid A/D converter based on a combined incremental and cyclic conversion. The proposed implementation offers a configurable resolution, and permits to share the same hardware for t ...

A technique for the calibration of DAC (digital to analog converter) mismatch errors in multi-bit Sigma Delta modulators (SDM) is presented. It consists of two parts: the first is a measurement technique to obtain the relative mismatch of each feedback DAC ...
