The water-soluble iridium(III) complexes [CpIr(PTA)Cl2] (1) and [CpIr(PTA)2Cl]Cl (2) (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) have been synthesised and characterised by spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The complexes were evaluated as catalyst prec ...

A ruthenium(II)-arene complex with a perfluoroalkyl-ligand was found to display remarkable selectivity toward cancer cells. IC50 values on several cancer cell lines are in the range of 25-45 mu M, and no cytotoxic effect was observed on nontumorigenic (HEK ...

Hexanuclear thiolato-bridged arene ruthenium metalla-prisms of the general formula [(p-cymene)6Ru6(SR)6(tpt)2]6+ (R=CH2Ph, CH2C6H4-p-tBu, CH2CH2Ph; tpt=2,4,6-tris(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine), obtained from the dinuclear precursors [(p-cymene)2Ru2(SR)2Cl2], ...

New ruthenium and osmium carbonyl clusters with 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo-[3.3.1.13.7]decane and 3,7-diacetyl-1,3,7-triaza-5-phosphabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane ligands were synthesized using Me3NO as an initiator. The data on antiproliferative activity of ne ...

A new family of organometallic p-cymene ruthenium(II) and osmium(II) complexes conjugated to ethacrynic acid, a glutathione transferase (GST) inhibitor, is reported. The ethacrynic acid moiety (either one or two) is tethered to the arene ruthenium(II) and ...

The production of carbonates from carbon dioxide and epoxides is an atom-economical, scalable and industrially relevant reaction, highlighting the use of carbon dioxide as a sustainable source of carbon. Following a brief introduction on cyclic carbonates ...

In our Dalton Transactions Perspective article entitled, 'Metal-based antitumour drugs in the post genomic era', (Dalton Trans., 2006, 1929-1933) we discussed metal-based drugs in light of past decades of research. We concluded that the post-genomic era wo ...

Metal complexes bearing phosphine ligands are attracting increasing attention for their applications in medicinal chem. In particular, organometallic ruthenium-phosphine complexes have been found to exhibit promising antitumor activity. The synthesis, anti ...

Herein described are diaryl ether compounds having the structure (I) as well as a method for their manufacture from lignin. ...

Cisplatin and other platinum compounds have had a huge impact in the treatment of cancers and are applied in the majority of anticancer chemotherapeutic regimens. The success of these compounds has biased the approaches used to discover new metal-based ant ...

Chemotherapeutics for the treatment of tumorigenic conditions that feature novel modes of action are highly sought after to overcome the limitations of current chemotherapies. Herein, we report the conjugation of the alkylating agent chlorambucil to the RA ...

Organic hole-transporting materials (HTMs) based on the Ullazine core yield so far only moderate power conversion efficiencies of up to 13.08% in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Aiming to fabricate efficient and stable PSCs, novel Ullazine derivatives beari ...

The first examples of (arene)Os(II) curcuminoid derivatives have been prepared and characterized. The neutral complexes [(p-cym)Os(curc)Cl] (1) and [( p-cym)Os(bdcurc)Cl] ( 2), together with the cationic derivatives [( p-cym)Os(curc)(PTA)][SO3CF3] (3) and ...

Ru(II)-η6-p-cymene compds. bearing pyrone-derived ligands, which were obtained by Mannich reactions between kojic acid and piperidine or morpholine analogs, have been synthesized. The compds. were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, therm ...

Undoubtedly, reducing vector populations or their interactions with hosts below a critical level is a practical and proven method of disease control. Introduction of insecticide-treated bed nets has significantly reduced malaria in some parts of the world. ...

N-formylation and N-methylation of amines are important reactions that are used to produce a wide range of key intermediates and compounds. This protocol describes the environmentally benign N-formylation and N-methylation of primary and secondary amines u ...

The reaction of the iminobiphosphines RN[dbnd]>PPh2-PPh2, where R = C6H4(p-CN), C6H4(m-CN), C6H4(o-C6H5), C6F5 or C6
