Reaction of 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)binaphthol (BINAPO, 1) with [RuCl2(η6-arene)]2 in methanol leads to dinuclear BINAPO-bridged Ru compounds [{RuCl2(η6-p-cymene)}2-(μ-BINAPO)], 2a, in ne ...

Reaction of the dimer [(η5-C5Me5)RhCl(μ2-Cl)]2 with 2 or 4 equiv of the water-soluble phosphine 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.1]decane (pta) affords [Rh(η5-C5Me< ...

The acylpyrazolone proligands HQR (HQR in general, in detail: HQCy = 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-carbonylcyclohexyl-5-pyrazolone, 4-C(O)-phenyl, HQPh = 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone, HQC17 = 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-stearoyl-5-pyrazolone, HQC17,Ph = 1-phenyl ...

The interactions of the ruthenium(II) complex Ru(η6-p-cymene)(pta)Cl2 (RAPTA-C), an effective anticancer and antimetastatic agent, with biol. nucleophiles are important with respect to its mechanism of action, for example, the reaction with glutathione (GS ...

Following the identification of [Ru(eta(6)-p-cymene)Cl-2(1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecyl-3-(pyridin-3-yl)propanoate)], a ruthenium(II)arene complex with a perfluoroalkyl-modified ligand that displays remarkable in vitro cancer cell selectivity, a series of stru ...

A series of ether-derivatized imidazolium halides have been prepd. and characterized. Contrary to literature reports, they are all cryst. solids and have m.ps. well above room temp. (50-100 °C). Single crystals of the imidazolium salts, obtained in situ by ...

A series of arene ruthenium metalla-rectangles of general formula (eta(6)-p-cymene)(4)Ru-4(mu(4)-embelin)(2)(mu(2)-N boolean AND N)(2)(4) was prepared from the embelin-derived metalla-clip (eta(6)-p-cymene)(2)Ru-2(mu(4)-embelin) Cl-2 (1), silver ...

Severe general toxicity issues blight many chemotherapeutics utilized in the treatment of cancers, resulting in the need for more selective drugs able to exert their biological activity at only the required location(s). Toward this aim, we report the devel ...

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a key platform chemical that may be obtained from various cellulosic (biomass) derivatives. Previously, it has been shown that ionic liquids (ILs) facilitate the catalytic conversion of glucose into HMF. Herein, we demonstr ...

Two hybrid compounds comprising an antimetastatic rutheniumarene fragment tethered to an indazole-3-carboxylic acid derivative that inhibits aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells have been prepared and evaluated in a variety of cancer cell lines, including hi ...

We have used microwave dielec. relaxation spectroscopy to study the picosecond dynamics of five low-viscosity, highly conductive room temp. ionic liqs. based on 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium cations paired with the bis((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)imide anion. ...

The binding of the ruthenium-based anticancer drug candidates KP1019, NAMI-A and RAPTA-T towards different double-stranded oligonucleotides was probed by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry and compared with that of the widely used platinum-based che ...

Iron/iron phosphide nanospheres supported on ginkgo leaf-derived carbon (Fe&FeP@gl-C) are prepared using a post-phosphidation approach, with varying amounts of iron (Fe). The activity of the catalysts in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) outperforms ir ...

Arene hydrogenation by homogeneous catalysts is a highly controversial area of research, with many of the mononuclear complexes shown to catalyse the reaction, being found to be pre-catalysts to nanoparticles, on closer examination. The solvent properties ...

Three generations of pyrenyl bis-MPA dendrimers with two different end-groups, acetonide (pyrG) or alcohol (pyr(Gn center dot OH)) (n = 1-3), were synthesized, and the pyrenyl group of the dendritic molecules was encapsulated in the arene ruthenium metalla ...

Chlorambucil (CLB) derivatives with long fluorous (referred to as 1 and 2) or hydrocarbon (3) chains have been evaluated in a series of in vitro and in vivo assays. In cell viability inhibition assays, both derivatives 2 and 3 show selective cytotoxicity t ...

The reaction of chloromethyl thiocyanate with 1-methylimidazole affords the imidazolium salt, 1-thiocyanomethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, [C1SCNmim]Cl (1a). Exchange of the chloride anion in 1a by [PF6] ...

Some of the recent developments concerning the synthesis, properties and applications of functionalised ionic liqs. are highlighted. Various strategies are presented, including functionalisation of the cation, anion or both cation and anion in the same ion ...
