Reaction of the zwitterionic imidazolium salt [(CH2COOH)(CH2COO)i.m.] with K2CO3 or BaO in the presence of 18-crown-6 affords the salts [(CH2COO)2i.m.][K(18-crown-6)] and [(CH2COO)2i.m.]2[Ba(18-crown-6)]. Recrystn. of these crown complexes from the ionic l ...

The catalytic activity of a ruthenium(II)-p-cymene complex containing a partially coordinated triphosphine ligand, [RuCl(kappa(2)-triphos)(p-cymene)]PF6 1, has been investigated in the hydrogenation of styrene to ethylbenzene. The influence of arene dissoc ...

Molecular dynamics simulations and DFT calculations suggest that leaching of palladium species from Pd nanoparticles in ionic liquids does not involve "naked" Pd(0) atoms or neutral ArPdX species formed by oxidative addition of arylhalides. Instead, the io ...

Hybrid lead halide perovskites have reached comparable efficiencies to state-of-the-art silicon solar cell technologies. However, a remaining key challenge toward commercialization is the resolution of the perovskite device instability. In this work, we id ...

A facile pathway to [RuCl2(η6-benzocrownether)]2 complexes is described and crystal structures of the complexes [RuCl2(η6-benzo-15-crown-5)]2 and [RuCl2(η6- ...

Triarylamine end-capped-functionalized arylene-imidazole derivatives were synthesized from readily accessible, inexpensive precursors and employed as hole transporting materials (HTMs) in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). All the HTMs displayed high thermal d ...

Designing electrocatalysts that are both highly efficient and durable is crucial for the industrial implementation of alkaline electrocatalytic hydrogen production technologies. A limitation of the current Ru-based catalysts is that the water dissociation ...

The dinuclear dichloro complexes [(η6-arene)2Ru2(μ-Cl)2Cl2] and [(η5-C5Me5)2M2(μ-Cl)2Cl2] react with 2-(pyridine-2-yl)thiazole (pyTz) to afford the cationic complexes [(η6-arene)Ru(pyTz)Cl]+ (arene = C6H6 (1), p-iPrC6H4Me (2) or C6Me6 (3)) and [(η5-C5Me5)M ...

A highly efficient iron-catalyzed production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) from sugar is reported. The dehydration of fructose and sucrose has been studied in the presence of different iron salts and co-catalysts. As a result, it was found that fructose ...

The dendrite growth on the surface of zinc anodes and formation of inactive by-products of Zn4(OH)6SO4.xH2O (ZHS), mainly attributed to the "tip effect" of an uneven surface and water corrosion of zinc anode, have seriously shrunk the anode life and hinder ...

Neutral dinuclear dithiolato-bridged pentamethylcyclopentadienyl Rh(III) complexes of the type (C5Me5)(2)Rh-2(mu-SR)(2)Cl-2 (R = CH2Ph, 1; R = CH2CH2Ph, 2) and cationic dinuclear trithiolato-bridged pentamethylcyclopentadienyl Rh(III) and Ir(III) complexes ...

Electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) membrane was prepared from a solution of 16 wt % of PVdF-HFP containing acetone/N,N-dimethyl acetamide (7:3 wt %). The prepared electrospun PVdF-HFP membrane (esPM) was then soaked in ...

Trithiolato-bridged arene osmium complexes of the general formula (p-cymene)(2)Os-2(mu-SR)(3) (R = C6H5, 1; C6H4-p-Me, 2; C6H4-p-OMe, 3; C6H4-p-Pr-i, 4; C6H4-p-But, 5; CH2C6H5, 6; CH2CH2C6H5, 7; CH2C6H4-p-Bu-t, [8](+ ...

A series of novel ionic liquids composed of imidazolium, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, and ammonium cations with tricyanomethanide or tetracyanoborate anions were prepared. The ionic liquids were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and ESI-mass spectrome ...

A facile method for the fabrication of dendritic gold nanoparticles (NPs) by use of an ionic polymer template has been developed. In situ generation of an imidazolium-based (cationic) polymer, poly[1-methyl-3-(4-vinylbenzyl)imidazolium], with AuCl4- counte ...

Hybrid perovskites have attracted enormous attention in the next generation resistive switching (RS) memristor for the artificial synapses, owing to their ambipolar charge transport, long diffusion length, and tunable visible bandgap. However, the variable ...

The aim of the study is to evaluate the differences of protein binding of NAMI-A, a new ruthenium drug endowed with selective antimetastatic properties, and of cisplatin and to ascertain the possibility to use two drugs based on heavy metals in combination ...

The therapeutic index of drugs that target DNA, a ubiquitous target present in nearly all cells, is low. Nevertheless, DNA has remained the primary target for medicinal chemists developing metal-based anticancer drugs, although DNA has been essentially aba ...

Transformation of lignin into high-value chemicals is hampered by the complexity of monomers obtained from lignin depolymerization. Here we report a strategy, composed of hydro-demethoxylation and de-alkylation reactions, that is able to chemically converg ...

Global drive away from fossil feedstock requires the development of synthetic procedures to enhance the efficiency of CO2 capture and utilization processes using renewable starting materials and catalysts. Here, we report an alternative reaction pathway fo ...
