Polyiodides have been transferred intact from acetonitrile solution to the gas phase and analyzed by mass spectrometry. A range of ions were observed, including I-11, I-13, and I-15, which have higher iodine/iodide ratios than any previously ...

Metallodrug protein interactions contribute to their therapeutic effect (even when DNA is the dominant target), side-effects and are implicit in drug resistance. Here, we provide mass spectrometric-based evidence to show that metallodrug interactions with ...

Solar fuels offer a promising approach to provide sustainable fuels by harnessing sunlight(1,2). Following a decade of advancement, Cu2O photocathodes are capable of delivering a performance comparable to that of photoelectrodes with established photovolta ...

Regio- and stereoselective nucleophilic attack of cyanide (from NBu4CN) to cationic diiron vinyliminium compounds [Fe2Cp2(CO)(mu-CO){mu-eta(1):eta(3)-C-(R')C(R '')-CNMe2}]CF3SO3 ([1a-f]CF3SO3) affords the nitrile-aminoallylidene derivatives 2a-f in good to ...

We describe the direct coupling of alcohols and amines to a 3-(pyridin-3-yl)propanoic acid ligand coordinated to a Pt(II) to afford ester and amide derivatives. Using this approach, a family of trans-Pt(II) compounds with amine ligands bearing long perfluo ...

A targeted drug delivery system that is triggered by changes in pH based on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), derivatized with carboxylate groups and coated with a polysaccharide material, can be loaded with the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). The ...

The present invention relates to organometallic compounds useful in the treatment of metastasis. The organometallic compounds comprise a ligand that is convalently bound to a bioactive compound, which is an inhibitor of a resistance pathway or a derivative ...

Natural bond orbital (NBO) and topological electron density analyses have been used to investigate the electronic structure of phosphazenes [N3P3R6] (R = H, F, Cl, Br, CH3, CF3, N(C2H4< ...

Charge-assisted hydrogen bonds (CAHBs) play critical roles in many systems from biology through to materials. In none of these areas has the role and function of CAHBs been explored satisfactorily because of the lack of data on the energy of CAHBs in the c ...

Hyperthermia used as an adjuvant with chemotherapy is highly promising in the treatment of certain cancers. Currently, the small molecule drugs used in combination with hyperthermia were not designed for this application. Herein, we report the evaluation o ...

Pyridine- and phosphine-based ligands modified with ethacrynic acid (a broad acting glutathione transferase inhibitor) were prepared and coordinated to ruthenium(II)-arene complexes and to a ruthenium(III) NAMI-A type complex. All the compounds (ligands an ...

Colloidal stability was investigated in two types of particle systems, namely, with bare (h-HNT) and polyimidazolium-functionalized (h-HNT-IP-2) alkali-treated halloysite nanotubes in solutions of metal salts and ionic liquids (ILs). The valence of the met ...

Despite significant advances in the fabrication and applications of graphene-like materials, it remains a challenge to prepare single-layered metallic materials, which have great potential applications in physics, chemistry and material science. Here we re ...

The reactivity of three cytotoxic trans-PtII complexes bearing aliph. amine ligands, with transferrin and single-stranded oligonucleotides as DNA models, was investigated by ESI-MS and the results obtained are discussed in comparison with cisplatin. Tandem ...

The search for efficient catalysts frequently leads to new homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts of increasing complexity, and sometimes common, natural, or hybrid natural/synthetic materials that could be used in catalysis are overlooked. For example, t ...

Many transition metal complexes have unique physicochemical properties that can be efficiently exploited in medicinal chemistry for cancer treatment. Traditionally, double-stranded DNA has been assumed to be the main binding target; however, recent studies ...

Ionic liquids continue to find applications in an ever-increasing range of technologies. Here we describe some of the key routes used to prepare ionic liquids and then relate their properties to their applications. In particular, ionic liquids have been us ...

In continuation of recent work on the dielec. response of imidazolium-based ionic liqs. (ILs) (J. Phys. Chem. B, 2006, 110, 12682), the authors report on the effect of cation variation on the frequency-dependent dielec. permittivity up to 20 GHz of ionic l ...

The influence of phosphane "arm-on, arm-off" assocn./dissocn. in rhodium catalyzed alkene hydrogenation using [Rh(COD)(k3-triphos)]PF6 {1, COD = cyclooctadiene, triphos = 1,1,1-tris(diphenylphosphanylmethyl)ethane} has been investigated by comparison of th ...

A series of water-tolerant Lewis acidic TiO2/Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O heterojunction catalysts with different Ti : Nb ratios have been prepared and investigated in the conversion of glucose into HMF in water. Under optimized conditions (i.e. 150 degrees C, ...
