The water-soluble ruthenium(II)–mTPPTS complex (mTPPTS= meta-trisulfonated triphenylphosphine) efficiently catalyzes the generation of hydrogen from formic acid in aqueous solution. This catalyst has been immobilized in a hydrophilic silica sup- port to fa ...

Imidazolium salts with aromatic groups 1,3-bis(9-anthracenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bamim]Cl), 1,3-bis(1-naphthalenylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bnmim]Cl) and 1,3-bis( benzylmethyl)imidazolium chloride ([Bbmim]Cl) were reacted with PdCl2 forming th ...

The antitumor activity of the organometallic ruthenium(II)-arene complexes, RuCl2(eta(6)-arene)(PTA), (arene = p-cymene, toluene, benzene, benzo-15-crown-5, 1-ethylbenzene-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, ethyl benzoate, hexamethylbenzene; PTA = ...

A highly efficient and poison-resistant system for the Suzuki coupling reaction based on hydroxyl-functionalized ionic liq. solvents has been established. Coupling of RC6H4X (X = Br, I, Cl) and 2-bromothiophene with R1C6H4B(OH)2 in 2-hydroxyethyl-substitut ...

Fluorescent graphene-based materials have been prepared by a facile ion exchange route comprising the reaction of carboxylated, reduced graphene oxide (c-RGO) with fluorescent anthracene-modified imidazolium salts in water-ethanol solution. The resulting r ...

Metal complexes are increasingly being used to inhibit enzymes. The reasons for this increased interest arise from the special features that metal complexes offer, e.g. the facile construction of 3D architectures that tightly fill enzyme active sites incre ...

The water-sol. ruthenium(II) complexes [Cp'RuX(PTA)2]Y and [CpRuCl(PPh3)(mPTA)]OTf (Cp' = Cp, Cp*, X = Cl and Y = nil; or X = MeCN and Y = PF6; PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane; mPTA = 1-methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) were used as catalyst ...

Glutathione S-transferase P1-1 (GST P1) is an important drug target as it is implicated in drug resistance. GST P1-1 inhibitors are typically non-productive analogues of glutathione which covers broad chemical space; hence it is likely that several clinica ...

Organic-inorganic metal-halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have achieved a certified power-conversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.5%. However, long-term stability and air stability of the PSCs are still major concerns and hamper commercialization. Herein, we ...

An ionic liquid encompassing a bulky tertiary amine was synthesized and used as a dual solvent-reactant for the formation of a frustrated Lewis pair with tris(pentafluorophenyl) borane, forming a pseudo-frustrated Lewis pair-ionic liquid system. The ionic ...

Hole transport materials (HTMs) are a key component of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The small molecular 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl)-amine-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD, termed "Spiro") is the most successful HTM used in PSCs, but its ...

RAPTA-EA1 is a promising glutathione transferase (GSTP-1) inhibitor that has previously been shown to inhibit the growth of various breast cancer cells. We studied the anticancer activity of RAPTA-EA1 on triple-negative BRCA1 competent breast cancer MDA-MB ...

Ionic liquids containing the nitrile and vinyl functional groups attached to imidazolium cations combined with various anions, e.g., iodide, bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide ([TFSI]-), or dicyanamide ([N(CN)2]-), have been prepared and characterized. Th ...

Combining doxorubicin with thermal therapy in the clinic has led to startling results in the treatment of problematic cancers. Here, we describe a multimo dal multi-walled carbon nanotube material that combines tumor targeting, doxorubicin delivery, and ph ...

Aryl chlorides are among the most versatile synthetic precursors, and yet inexpensive and benign chlorination techniques to produce them are underdeveloped. We propose a process to generate aryl chlorides by chloro-group transfer from chlorophenol pollutan ...

The synthesis, DNA binding properties and cytotoxicity of a series of Ru(II)-arene complexes containing oligocationic ammonium-functionalized triarylphosphines, of the type Ru(p-cymene)Cl-2(L) (L - oligocationic phosphine), are reported. The complexes are ...

Ionic liquids doped with I-2, usually resulting in the formation of polyiodide anions, are extensively used as electrolytes and in iodination reactions. Herein, NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction were used to rationalize the structures o ...

An approach to characterize the interactions of RAPTA-T, a novel ruthenium-based anticancer drug candidate with intriguing antimetastatic properties, with human ovarian cancer cells in vitro is described. The distribution profile of the metallodrug within ...

Four bipyridine-type ligands variably derivatized with two bioactive groups (taken from ethacrynic acid, flurbiprofen, biotin, and benzylpenicillin) were prepared via sequential esterification steps from commercial 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid an ...

Gold(III) compds. constitute an emerging class of biol. active substances, of special interest as potential anticancer agents. During the past decade a no. of structurally diverse gold(III) complexes were reported to be acceptably stable under physiol.-lik ...
