The biphasic hydrosilylation of 1-hexadecene with siloxane B9800 in a range of ionic liqs. is reported. Of the ionic liqs. tested, [C4py][BF4] and [C4-3-pic][BF4] offer the optimum compromise between activity and ...

Perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells offer the potential to surpass the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of single-junction solar devices beyond the Shockley-Queisser limit at relatively low costs. However, obtaining wide-bandgap materials that provide i ...

The emerging technique termed functional identification of target by expression proteomics (FITExP) has been shown to identify the key protein targets of anti-cancer drugs. Here, we use this approach to elucidate the proteins involved in the mechanism of a ...

This paper is aimed at introducing the organometallic chemist to the fascinating area of organometallic pharmaceuticals. It commences by identifying the properties of organometallic (transition metal) compounds that lend themselves to medical applications. ...

Transition metal nanoparticles (NPs) are extensively used as catalysts for a wide and diverse range of organic transformations when immobilized on appropriate solid supports. We describe the development of a highly active and highly selective heterogeneous ...

A series of imidazolium dicarboxylic acids have been prepd. from the reaction of the 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)imidazolium zwitterion with the Bronsted acids HX (X = F, Br, Cl, ClO4). The structures of these acids have been established in the solid ...

The reaction of the five- or six-membered C,N or C,S-palladacycles [(L)PdCl]2 with PTA (1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) led to the monomeric complexes [(L)Pd(PTA)Cl] 6a, 6b and 7 where LH= N,N-dimethyl-1-phenylmethanamine, benzyl(methyl)sulfane or 1-meth ...

One of the obstacles to the commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the high price and morphological instability of the most common hole-transporting material (HTM) Spiro-OMeTAD. Herein, a novel HTM, termed V1160, based on four N,N '-bis(3-me ...

Rhodium nanoparticles embedded on the interior of hollow porous carbon nanospheres, able to sieve monomers from polymers, were used to confirm the precise role of metal catalysts in the reductive catalytic fractionation of lignin. The study provides clear ...

The synthesis of three enamine hole-transporting materials (HTMs) based on Troger's base scaffold are reported. These compounds are obtained in a three-step facile synthesis from commercially available materials without the need of expensive catalysts, ine ...

Bacterial infections and transmission threaten human health and well-being. Graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4), a promising photocatalytic antibacterial nanomaterial, has attracted increasing attention to combat bacterial transmission, due to the outstanding ...

Five 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (TPP) areneruthenium(II) derivs., a p-cymeneosmium, a pentamethylcyclopentadienyliridium and a pentamethylcyclopentadienylrhodium analog were prepd. and characterized as potential photosensitizing chemotherapeutic ...

Platinum-based cancer drugs, such as cisplatin, are highly effective chemotherapeutic agents used extensively for the treatment of solid tumors. However, their effectiveness is limited by drug resistance, which, in some cancers, has been associated with an ...

Ruthenium complexes of the type [RuCl(eta(6)-arene)-(NN)]X (X = BF4 or BPh4) featuring an eta(6)-arene ligand modified with an imidazolium ring and incorporating the bis(azo) chelating (NN) ligands 2-hydroxyphenylbis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl) methane or 2- ...

Alternative composite materials with antibacterial activity have been developed by combining the porosity of carbon materials and the antibacterial activity of half sandwich (cymene)Ru-curcumin complexes. Different types of activated carbon were used, from ...

Novel ionic liquid-sulfolane composite electrolytes based on the 1,2,3-triazolium family of ionic liquids were developed for dye-sensitized solar cells. The best performing device exhibited a short-circuit current density of 13.4 mA cm(-2), an open-circuit ...

A series of bifunctional ruthenium(II) arene compounds modified with bexarotene, a retinoid that selectively activates retinoid X receptors inducing cell differentiation and apoptosis and preventing drug resistance, are described. The bexarotene is tethere ...

The organometallic ruthenium(II) [Ru(arene)Cl2PTA] PTA - 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane compound, RAPTA-C, represents an innovative anti-cancer therapeutic and a better-tolerated alternative to platinum (Pt)-based chemotherapeutic drugs in the treatment ...

Ruthenium-arene complexes conjugated to ethacrynic acid were prepared as part of a strategy to develop novel glutathione-S-transferase (GST) inhibitors with alternate modes of activity through the organometallic fragment, ultimately to provide targeted rut ...
