A series of potent histone deacetylase inhibitors is presented that incorporate alkyl or perfluorinated alkyl chains. Several new compounds show greater in vitro antiproliferative activity than the clinically approved inhibitor, SAHA. Furthermore, the new ...

The 'acidic patch' is a highly electronegative cleft on the histone H2A-H2B dimer in the nucleosome. It is a fundamental motif for protein binding and chromatin dynamics, but the cellular impact of targeting this potentially therapeutic site with exogenous ...

The synthesis and in vitro anticancer activity of dihalo(η6-p-cymene)(3,5,6-bicyclophosphite-α-D-glucofuranoside)ruthenium(II) complexes are described. The compds. were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry, and the mol. structures of ...

Resistance against anticancer drugs remains a serious obstacle in cancer treatment. Here we used novel strategies to target microsomal glutathione transferase 1 (MGST1) and glutathione transferase pi (GSTP) that are often overexpressed in tumors and confer ...

Four new bis(phosphino)amine ligands (Ph2P)2N-C6H3-R, where R = 3,5-OMe (1), 2,5-OMe (2), 2,4-OMe (3) or 3,4-OMe (4), were prepd. via aminolysis of the corresponding dimethoxyanilines with 2 equiv. of diphenylphosphine chloride in the presence of tri-Et am ...

Based on the clinical success of platinum-based anti-cancer drugs such as cisplatin, carboplatin and oxaliplatin, a variety of other metal-based anti-cancer compounds are being investigated. In particular, a number of ruthenium-based compounds have been id ...

A series of mono-, di-, and trinuclear organometallic alkynyl phosphane gold(I) complexes contg. the stable and water-sol. PTA and DAPTA ligands have been synthesized and characterized. The solid-state structure of one of these compds. was also established ...

Tetranuclear arene ruthenium complexes of the general formula {Ru-2(p-cymene)(2)(mu(4)-L)}(2)(mu(4)-tpom) (tpom = tetrakis(4-pyridyloxymethylene)methane) were obtained from the corresponding dinuclear arene ruthenium complexes [Ru-2(p-cymene)(2)(m(4) ...

Niobic acid (Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O) was immobilized on regenerated cellulose (Re-Cellulose) to afford a heterogeneous catalyst, termed Nb2O5 center dot nH(2)O@Re-Cellulose, that was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, microscopy (SEM and TEM) and ...

Water soluble arene-functionalised trithiolato-bridged ruthenium complexes of general formula (eta(6)-C6H5OCH2CH2OH)(2)Ru-2(mu-SR)(3), where R = C6H5 (1), C6H4-p-OMe (2), C6H4-p-OMe (3), C6H4-p-Pr-i (4), C6H4-p-Bu-t (5), CH2C6H5 (6), CH2CH2C6H5 (7) an ...

The present invention relates to a method of producing formic acid in a catalysed chemical reaction from hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide gas, said reaction being conducted in an acidic medium comprising a polar solvent over a wide range of temperatures at ...

To attain commercial viability, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have to be reasonably priced, highly efficient, and stable for a long period of time. Although a new record of a certified power conversion efficiency (PCE) value over 25% was achieved, PSC perf ...

A review. Platinum complex-based chemotherapy is one of the major treatment options of many malignancies. Although severe side effects occur, and only a limited spectrum of tumors can be cured, Pt compds. are used in every second therapy scheme. Thus, many ...

With the purpose of assessing the reactivity of chloride ions dissolved in ionic liquids (ILs), a relative scale for the solvation of chloride is given for a series of ILs based on the bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide ([Tf2N]) anion and differen ...

Nanoparticles can be stabilized by an ionic liq. polymer (ILP) composed of imidazolium units incorporating a hydrophobic benzyl group. The resulting gold, platinum, and palladium nanoparticles can be efficiently transferred from water to ionic liqs. by exc ...

Different weight percentage (2, 3, 4, and 5 wt %) of polyaniline (PANI) were incorporated into electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) composite membranes (esCPMs). The regular morphology, molecular structure, crystallinity, ...

Curcuminoids and their complexes continue to attract attention in medicinal chemistry, but little attention has been given to their metabolic derivatives. Here, the first examples of (arene)Ru(II) complexes with curcuminoid metabolites, tetrahydrocurcumin ...

A new water-soluble methyl-imidazolium-based ionic polymer was synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization that was subsequently used to prepare aqueous gold nanoparticle solutions which were characterized by UVvis spectroscopy and transmission e ...

The ruthenium(II)-triphos acetato complex [RuCl(OAc)(k3-triphos)] (triphos = (PPh2CH2)3CMe) has been found to be an active catalyst precursor for the hydrogenation of 1-alkenes under relatively mild conditions (5-50 bar H2, 50 °C). In contrast to related t ...
