A series of iridium-stabilized selenocyclohexadienyls of general formula [CpIr((5)-C6H5-nMenSe)][BF4] {Cp = (5)-C5Me5, n = 0, n = 1, and n = 3} is described, with the selenocyclohexadienyl unit being isolated for the first time by -coordination to a Cp*I ...

N-formylation of amines with CO2 and hydrosilane reducing agents proceeds via fast and complex chemical equilibria, which hinder easy analysis of the reaction pathways. In situ reaction monitoring and kinetic studies reveal that three proposed pathways, vi ...

An investigation of the mol. mechanism of the anticancer activity demonstrated by the ruthenium(II)-arene compd. [Ru(η6-p-cymene)Cl2(pta)] (pta is 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane), termed "RAPTA-C", in Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) bearing mice is descr ...

The two known Me- and allyl-substituted 1H-imidazol-3-ium bromides 1 and 2, respectively, were converted to the corresponding BF4- and BPh4- salts 3-6 (Scheme 1). Compounds 3 and 4 were liquids at ambient temperature. Reaction of 1 or 2 with [PdCl2] afford ...

Two nitrile-functionalized alkyltriflouroborate anion based complexes [(Ph3P)(2)N][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] and [K(18-crown-6)][CH3CH(BF3)CH2CN] were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods and single X-ray diffraction analysis. In the former comple ...

The Pt(ii) -diimine complexes [PtCl2{N-2-(HCNR)(2)}] (R = C6H11, 1; 4-C6H10OH, 2; 4-C6H4CH3, 3; 4-C6H4OH, 4) and [PtCl2{N-2-(CH3CNOH)(2)}] (5) were prepared in 60-81% yields from the 1:1 molar reactions of cis-[PtCl2(DMSO)(2)] with the appropriate -diimine ...

Inspired by the preferential, allosteric binding of RAPTA-T and auranofin to the nucleosome core particle, we describe the design and synthesis of a series of heterobimetallic ruthenium(II)-gold(I) complexes with varying spacer lengths ranging from four to ...

The phosphorylation of a series of diaminopyridines (2,3-, 3,4-, 2,5- and 2,6-diaminopyridine), with various molecular equivalents of chlorodiphenylphosphine in the presence of TEA has been studied. Notably, phosphorylation of 2,3- and 3,4-diaminopyridine ...

Porous monolithic microreactors show great promise in catalytic applications, but are usually based on non-renewable materials. Herein, we demonstrate a Ni/Au nanoparticle-decorated carbonized wood (Ni/Au-CW) monolithic membrane microreactor for the effici ...

Two pyrazole-based ligands bearing a pyridine moiety, 3-methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-pyrazolone (HLpy), and 3methyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-4-trifluoroacetyl-5-pyrazolone (HQpy,CF3), were prepared and fully characterized in the solid-state and the tautomerism of bot ...

Platinum nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in situ in the ionic liquid (IL) [Emim]NTf2 (1-ethyl-3- methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide) as well as in mixtures of [Emim]NTf2 with a second IL, Lewis acid or Brønsted acid, but in the absenc ...

The chemical transformation of carbon dioxide into useful products becomes increasingly important as CO2 levels in the atmosphere continue to rise as a consequence of human activities. In this article we describe the direct hydrogenation of CO2 into formic ...

Of the different modalities used to treat retinoblastoma, a chemothermotherapeutic regimen combining carboplatin and thermotherapy (also termed focal therapy), and the application of melphalan as a monotherapy, are particularly successful. Some studies ind ...

Ruthenium-arene complexes bearing the 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo-[3.3.1.1]decane ligand, namely, RAPTA compounds, are widely investigated as potential antimetastatic agents for cancer therapy. Although much evidence points toward covalent binding with ...

A series of thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts have been prepared and characterized. Subsequent reaction of the thioether-functionalised imidazolium salts with iodomethane affords imidazolium-sulfonium salts composed of doubly charged cations and t ...

New cationic diruthenium complexes of the type [(arene)2Ru2(SPh)3]+, arene being C6H6, p-iPrC6H4Me, C6Me6, C6H5R, where R = (CH2)nOC(O)C6H4-p-O(CH2)6CH3 or (CH2)nOC(O)CH:CHC6H4-p-OCH3 and n = 2 or 4, are obtained from the reaction of the corresponding prec ...

Dopant-free hole transporting materials (HTMs) is significant to the stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here, we developed a novel star-shape arylamine HTM, termed Py-DB, with a pyrene core and carbon-carbon double bonds as the bridge units. Compa ...

Ionic liquids (ILs) are versatile solvents and catalysts for the synthesis of quinazoline-2,4-dione from 2-aminobenzonitrile and CO2. However, the role of the IL in this reaction is poorly understood. Consequently, we investigated this reaction and showed ...

Dinuclear metal complexes have emerged as a promising class of biologically active compounds which possess unique anticancer activity. Here, we describe a novel series of arene-linked dinuclear organometallic Ru(II) complexes, where the relative conformati ...

The integration of thin 2D perovskite layers at the 3D PVK/HTL interface is known to improve the power conversion efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, we report a novel approach consisting of mixing two alkyl-based catio ...
