For many scientific applications, electron multiplying charge coupled devices (EMCCDs) have been the sensor of choice because of their high quantum efficiency and built-in electron amplification. Lately, many researchers introduced scientific complementary ...

Quantum ghost imaging approaches have been proposed to enhance biological microscopy, for example, using 2D visible detectors to provide IR images or providing additional dimensions of spatial or spectral information. Toward the goal of making such imaging ...

Randomness is of fundamental importance in various fields, such as cryptography, numerical simulations, or the gaming industry. Quantum physics, which is fundamentally probabilistic, is the best option for a physical random number generator. In this articl ...

A method for manufacturing vias in a silicon wafer, the silicon wafer having a crystal orientation, and having a plane that is perpendicular to a surface of the wafer, tilted by 35.26°, the method comprising the steps of providing a mask having ...

A single-photon avalanche diode with high sensitivity in the ultraviolet (UV) wavelength range has been fabricated on Si using pure boron chemical vapor deposition to create both a nanometer-thin anode junction and a robust light entrance window. The devic ...

Traditional cameras face a trade-off between low-light performance and high-speed imaging: longer exposure times to capture sufficient light results in motion blur, whereas shorter exposures result in Poisson-corrupted noisy images. While burst photography ...

Temporal photon correlations have been a crucial resource for quantum and quantum-enabled optical science for over half a century. However, attaining non-classical information through these correlations has typically been limited to a single point (or, at ...

We report on LinoSPAD2, a single-photon camera system, comprising a 512x1 single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) front -end and one or two FPGA-based back-ends. Digital signals generated by the SPADs are processed by the FPGA in real time, whereas the FPGA o ...

For on-chip data communication with galvanic isolation, a monolithically integrated optocoupler is strongly desired. For this purpose, silicon (Si) avalanche mode LEDs (AMLEDs) offer a great potential. However such AMLEDs have a relatively low internal qua ...

The radiation hardness of 180 nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) and 55 nm bipolar-CMOS-double-diffused MOS single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) is studied using 10 MeV and 100 MeV protons up to a displacement damage dose of 1 PeV/g. It is ...

This article presents a cryogenic mode-switching class-F voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) aimed at addressing the demand for wideband, low phase noise (PN) local oscillator signals in cryo-CMOS quantum controllers. First, to resolve the issues of manual ...

The correlation properties of light provide an outstanding tool to overcome the limitations of traditional imaging techniques. A relevant case is represented by correlation plenoptic imaging (CPI), a quantum-inspired volumetric imaging protocol employing s ...

We introduce a new generation of 3D imaging devices based on quantum plenoptic imaging. Position-momentum entanglement and photon number correlations are exploited to provide a scan-free 3D image after post-processing of the collected light intensity signa ...

We present a simulation method to estimate the dark count rate (DCR), photon detection probability (PDP), and dark current of InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) from 225K to 300K. All simulations are performed completely in TCAD and match we ...

This work proposes the first fine-grained configurable cell array specifically tailored for the implementation of cryptographic algorithms that can be configured using widely adopted hardware description languages. Our solution can be added as a small, cry ...

Cryogenic device models are essential for the reliable design of the cryo-CMOS electronic interface necessary to build future large-scale quantum computers. This paper reports the characterization of the drain-current mismatch of NMOS and PMOS devices fabr ...

We present a monolithic silicon chip comprising a matrix of 84 single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) to detect and discriminate fluorescent beads or fluorescently labeled single cells in a polydimethyl(-siloxane) (PDMS) cartridge that is positioned on top ...

Radio-frequency (RF) circuits are crucial to qubit manipulation, for which transistor self-heating effects may influence performance and possibly change the quantum state. This paper presents an analytical RF model of FDSOI MOSFETs considering dynamic self ...

Monocrystalline microwires of silver are produced by means of a novel casting process that combines precise mold production by silicon microfabrication with molten metal pressure infiltration. The wires have a shape amenable to tensile testing and a diamet ...

To address many of the deficiencies in optical neuroimaging technologies, such as poor tempo-spatial resolution, low penetration depth, contact-based measurement, and time-consuming image reconstruction, a novel, noncontact, portable, time-resolved laser s ...
