Nanometer-sized polycarboxylate ligands are interesting building blocks for metallasupramolecular chemistry, but access to these compounds is often limited by complicated synthetic pathways. Here, we describe a simple two-step protocol, which allows prepar ...

The reaction of (cymene)RuCl2 (1) with PCY3 was investigated using different stoichiometries and reaction conditions. Whereas a mixture of complex 1 and 2 equiv of PCy3 in methanol gave the known adduct [(cymene)Rucl(2)(PCy3)] (3) along with the phosp ...

Indicator displacement assays based on the organometallic complex [Cp*RhCl2]2 and the dye gallocyanine have been used to sense aminosugars and aminoglycosides in buffered aqueous solution by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The data of three assays at pH 7.0, 8.0 and ...

A bimetallic complex, in which a RuCl2 (eta(2)C(2)H(4))(PCy3) fragment is connected via three chloro, bridges to a (eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl2 fragment, has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. This complex was used to cat ...

Recent advances in the development of ruthenium catalysts for the atom transfer radical addn. of polyhalogenated compds. to olefins ('Kharasch reaction') are described. Three classes of homogeneous catalysts are discussed: halfsandwich complexes with h6-ar ...

The chemical reactivity of 1-alkynyltriazenes has been investigated and is found to parallel the reactivity of ynamides. The similarity in reactivity of these two classes of compounds is demonstrated by addition reactions with acids, by cycloaddition react ...

A novel procedure for the synthesis of polyarylethenes is described. Consecutive C–H vinylation reactions of tetraphenylethene with a triphenylethenyl triazene give hyperbranched polyarylethenes of variable sizes. The vinylation reactions are mediated by a ...

Caught in a trap! Fluorimetric chloride sensing in water is achieved by exploiting the changes in partition constant of a receptor complex in its bound and nonbound states. In the presence of chloride, the complex preferentially resides in the micelle pseu ...

Chemically induced bond cleavage of nitrous oxide typically proceeds by rupture of the N–O bond with concomitant O-atom transfer and liberation of dinitrogen. On a few occasions, N–N bond scission has been observed instead. We report a reaction sequence in ...

Triple‐stranded helicates were obtained by metal‐templated multicomponent reactions of bispyridyloxime ligands with arylboronic acids. The helicates feature two hexa‐coordinated MII ions (M=Fe, Zn, or Mn), which are embedded in a macrobicyclic ligand frame ...

Donor–acceptor cyclopropanes substituted with 3,3-dialkyltriazenyl groups are described herein. The strong electron-donating character of the triazene renders the cyclopropanes highly reactive, allowing for catalyst-free ring-opening reactions with methano ...

A new procedure for the synthesis of highly substituted 1,3-diaminopyrazoles is described. As substrates, we have employed 1-alkynyltriazenes and imines. The formation of pyrazoles was achieved by two-fold C–N coupling reactions in the presence of (JohnPho ...

The dinuclear Ru(II) complexes (arene)Ru(μ-Cl)3RuCl(C2H4)(PCy3) (arene = p-cymene or 1,3,5-C6H3iPr3) react with N2O under mild conditions to give OPCy3 and the trinuclear complexes (arene)Ru(μ-Cl)3Ru(μ-Cl)3Ru(arene). The N-heterocyclic carbene complex (p-c ...

Mesoionic imidazolylidenes are recognized as excellent electron-donating ligands in organometallic and main group chemistry. However, these carbene ligands typically show poor π-accepting properties. We have performed a computational analysis of 71 mesoion ...

A heterobimetallic Ru(II)-Rh(I) complex has been identified as a potent catalyst precursor for the Oppenauer-type oxidation of alcohols. With 0.1-0.5 mol% of this complex and K2CO3 as the co-catalyst, it is possible to oxidize secondary and primary alcohol ...

A water-soluble coordination cage was obtained by reaction of Pd(NO3)2 with a 1,3-di(pyridin-3-yl)benzene ligand featuring a short PEG chain. The cavity of the metal-organic cage contains one nitrate anion, which is readily replaced by chloride. The appare ...

A facile and flexible method for the synthesis of a new AAA–DDD triple hydrogen-bonding motif is described. Polytopic supramolecular building blocks with precisely oriented AAA and DDD groups are thus accessible in few steps. These building blocks were use ...

Large macrocycles containing imine and borasiloxane links are obtained in polycondensation reactions of 4-formylbenzeneboronic acid, t-Bu2Si(OH)2, and diamines. The multicomponent reactions can be performed in solution or – advantageously – by mechanochemi ...

It is possible to control the geometry and the composition of metallasupramolecular assemblies via the aspect ratio of their ligands. This point is demonstrated for a series of iron- and palladium-based coordination cages. Functionalized clathrochelate com ...
