As the science of immunology grows increasingly mechanistic, motivation for developing quantitative, design-based engineering approaches has also evolved, both for therapeutic interventions and for elucidating immunological pathways in human disease. This ...

Aprotinin is a broad-spectrum serine protease inhibitor used in the clinic as an anti-fibrinolytic agent in fibrin-based tissue sealants. However, upon re-exposure, some patients suffer from hypersensitivity immune reactions likely related to the bovine or ...

The use of the biocompatible amphiphilic diblock copolymer poly(ethylene glycol-b-propylene sulfide) (PEG(44)PPS(20)) allows a tuned loading of doxorubicin onto the surface of non-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes and an efficient cell internali ...

We evaluated whether the genetic background of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) affects the properties suitable for three-dimensional (3D) synthetic scaffolds for cell self-renewal. Inbred R1 and hybrid B6D2F1 mouse ESC lines were cultured for 7 days in hydroge ...

Fibrinogen fusion proteins, methods of making, and methods of using fibrinogen fusion proteins are described. In a preferred embodiment the fibrinogen fusion protein contains a truncated Aa chain of fibrinogen. The Aa chain contains truncation site, which ...

Modern synthetic biomaterials are being designed to integrate bioactive ligands within hydrogel scaffolds for cells to respond and assimilate within the matrix. These advanced biomaterials are only beginning to be used to simulate the complex spatio-tempor ...

Nanoparticles have been extensively developed for therapeutic and diagnostic applications. While the focus of nanoparticle trafficking in vivo has traditionally been on drug delivery and organ-level biodistribution and clearance, recent work in cancer biol ...

Controlled release coatings were developed for neuroprostheses with the aim of combating the tissue reaction following implantation in the brain. The coatings consist of poly(propylene sulfide) drug-eluting nanoparticles embedded in a poly(ethylene oxide) ...

Several embodiments of the present disclosure relate to glycotargeting therapeutics that are useful in the treatment of transplant rejection, autoimmune disease, food allergy, and immune response against a therapeutic agent. In several embodiments, the com ...

In response to the 2013 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics (EPPSU), the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study was launched as a world-wide international collaboration hosted by CERN. The FCC study covered an energy-frontier hadron collider ...

The invention provides methods for the preparation of multiblock copolymers, dispersions of multiblock copolymers, vesicles and micelles containing multiblock copolymers, and oxidative degradation products of multiblock copolymers. ...

Unwanted immunity develops in response to many protein drugs, in autoimmunity, in allergy, and in transplantation. Approaches to induce immunological tolerance aim to either prevent these responses or reverse them after they have already taken place. We pr ...

Embodiments include a vehicle for delivery of nitric oxide comprising: a collection of micelles having an internal micelle core that comprises a polymer with N-diazeniumdiolate comprising NO complexed with secondary amines of the polymer. Embodiments inclu ...

Growth factors (GFs) are critical in tissue repair, but their translation to clinical use has been modest. Physiologically, GF interactions with extracellular matrix (ECM) components facilitate localized and spatially regulated signaling; therefore, we rea ...
