Colloidal cadmium selenide (CdSe) quantum dots QDs) have been prepared and exploited as inorganic dyes to sensitize a large-band-gap TiO2 layer for QD-sensitized solar cells. The optimized QD-sensitized solar cells exhibited an unprecedented incident photo ...

To improve their efficiency beyond the state-of-the-art, D-pi-A dyes must display increased spectral breadth and account for the physical limitations observed in the dye. sensitized solar cells. In particular, they should be designed to control the electro ...

The rapid evolution of perovskite photodetectors is transforming the field of photon detection, positioning these materials at the forefront of next‐generation optoelectronic and photonic technologies. Leveraging their exceptional bandgap tunability, high carrier mobility, and strong light–matter interaction, perovskite systems are enabling multifunctional photodetectors capable of adaptive sensing, real‐time signal processing, and intelligent, context‐aware operation. This review presents a comprehensive o

The cost-effective processability and high efficiency of the organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown tremendous potential to intervene positively in the generation of clean energy. However, prior to an industrial scale-up pr ...

Electron transfers (ET) between a donor (D) and an acceptor (A) through a molecular bridge (B) are of great importance in biological systems, molecular electronics and molecular based light-energy conversion systems. Here, the back and the forward electron ...

We computationally investigate organometal CH3NH3PbX3 and mixed halide CH3NH3PbI2X perovskites (X = Cl, Br, I), which are key materials for high efficiency solid-state solar cells. CH3NH3PbX3 perovskites exhibited the expected absorption blue shift along t ...

Although 2D|3D has shown potential for application in multifunctional devices, the principle of operation for multifunction devices (SOLAR Cell-LED: SOLED) has not yet been revealed. However, most studies have reported that the devices have only one auspic ...

Inverted planar perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have intrigued great promise in negative hysteresis, simple fabrication process, and flexible substrate implementation, in which the shared hole transport materiel is NiOx. However, the low-temperature solution ...

A tailored optimization of perovskite solar cells requires a detailed understanding of the processes limiting the device efficiency. Here, we study the role of the hole transport layer (HTL) spiro-MeOTAD and its thickness in a mesoscopic TiO2-based solar c ...

Potential-induced degradation (PID) is a prevalent concern in current commercial photovoltaic technologies, impacting their reliability, with the mechanistic basis for PID in perovskite photovoltaic technologies being poorly understood. Here, we investigat ...

The emissive properties of two Ru(II) complexes, [Ru(dmbipy)(2)L-1]PF6 (1) and [Ru-2(dmbipy)(4)L-2]PF6 (2), (where L-1 and L-2 are pi-extended phenanthroline-based ligands and dmbipy = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine) have been explored for dual ap ...

We measured the rate of hole hopping between dye molecules on titanium dioxide nanocrystals using cyclic voltammetry. Dyes commonly used in the field of dye sensitized solar cells exhibited efficient intermolecular charge transport, showing apparent diffus ...

The under-coordinated defects within perovskite and its relevant interfaces always attract and trap the free carriers via the electrostatic force, significantly limiting the charge extraction efficiency and the intrinsic stability of perovskite solar cells ...

The emergence of high-efficiency photovoltaic research is undergoing intense study and is technologically desirable to meet sustainable energy and environmental demand. However, every single solar cell has a theoretical power conversion efficiency limit, a ...

We are pleased to present this special issue on Advances in Solar Energy: Special Issue on Perovskite Solar Cells, which covers invited reviews and research articles on the perovskite materials and devices. Prof. Miyasaki first invented perovskite solar cells with a device efficiency of 3.8 %, and swiftly crossed to over 26 % in a single junction device. In silicon/perovskite tandem, solar cells the efficiency reached over 34 %. The device efficiency reached by 40 % under low-light/ artificial indoor light

The purpose of this article is twofold. On the one hand the method of spacial resolved photoemission spectroscopy on small angle tapered cross-sections (TCS) of complete devices is introduced to analyze simultaneously the chemical and electronic structure. ...

In this Perspective, we address the fundamentals and possible implications of Rashba phenomena particularly for noncentrosymmetric and heavy element-containing hybrid perovskite systems. The work sheds light on the application paradigm of these exciting ph ...

Realizing photoactive and thermodynamically stable all-inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) remains a challenging task within halide perovskite photovoltaic (PV) research. Here, a dual strategy for realizing efficient inorganic mixed halide perovskite P ...

Metal halide perovskite field‐effect transistors (PeFETs) have rapidly gained recognition as leading candidates for next‐generation electronic and optoelectronic technologies, owing to their exceptional optoelectronic properties, facile solution processability, and notable mechanical flexibility. Nevertheless, the practical deployment of high‐performance PeFETs is significantly impeded by persistent challenges, including ion migration, hysteresis effects, and environmental instability, which collectively hi

Iron and nitrogen co‐doped FeNC catalysts with symmetric Fe‐N 4 as the active site are the most promising alternative to noble metal catalysts for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). However, the symmetric structure in the Fe–N 4 site endows oxygen intermediates with strong binding energy, which hinders the activity optimization of the active center. In this work, an asymmetric configuration (Fe‐N 3 SC) is constructed to alleviate the electron localization caused by the d – π conjugation of Fe‐N 4
