Finding new hole-transporting materials (HTMs) suitable for replacing the state-of-the-art spiro-OMe-TAD is still challenging. In this work, newly synthesized diarylamine-substituted metal phthalocyanines (MPcs, M 1/4 Zn(II) or Cu(II)) functionalized with ...

Tin oxide is an excellent candidate to replace mesoporous TiO2 electron transport layers (ETLs) in perovskite solar cells. Here, we introduced a SnO2 layer by a low-temperature solution process, and investigated its morphology, opto-physical and electrical ...

Novel transition metal phthalocyanine-type compounds having an axial ligand which is capable of binding onto a semiconductor such as TiO2, and having at least one peripheral substituent, are active photosensitizers for dye solar cells. Preferred compounds offer absorbance of solar radiation in the near infra-red and may be used in electricity-generating windows.

A new heteroleptic polypyridyl ruthenium complex (see Figure) with a high molar extinction coefficient has been synthesized. The complex is demonstrated to be a highly efficient, stable sensitizer for nanocrystalline dye-sensitized solar cells. For a newly ...

A group of small-molecule hole-transporting materials(HTMs) thatare based on fluorenylidene fragments were synthesized and testedin perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The investigated compounds weresynthesized by a facile two-step synthesis, and their properti ...

The simplification of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), by replacing the mesoporous electron selective layer (ESL) with a planar one, is advantageous for large-scale manufacturing. PSCs with a planar TiO2 ESL have been demonstrated, but these exhibit unstabil ...

We investigate two different types of TiO2 blocking layer (BL) deposition techniques commonly used in solid-state methylammonium lead triiodide perovskite (MaPbI(3))-based solar cells. Although these BLs lead to similar photovoltaic device performance, the ...

Surface passivation with 2D perovskites is a powerful strategy to achieve improved stability and performance in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Various large organic cations have been successfully implemented, led by phenylethylammonium (PEA+) and its deriv ...

Here, we report the use of a squaraine-based dye, JD10, as a near-infrared sensitizer for solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSCs). Using spiro-MeOTAD as a hole-transport material, JD10 gave the highest reported power conversion efficiencies (PCE), ...

We design a series of metal-free donor-pi-bridge molecules (denoted VB0-VB4) based on a new donor group-ullazine donor-as sensitizers for dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) applications. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT calculations rev ...

The present invention relates to novel pyridine compounds that can be used as anchoring ligands in metal-based sensitizing dyes of dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The dyes comprising the polypyridine compounds exhibit improved light harvesting ability a ...

The color-tuning strategies of solid-state light-emitting devices (ss-LEDs) are mainly focused on engineering molecular structures. In this paper, for the first time, we developed a facile strategy for tuning the electroluminescence (EL) color from orange ...

In this study, a series of donor-acceptor-donor (D-A-D) type small molecules based on the fluorene and diphenylethenyl enamine units, which are distinguished by different acceptors, as holetransporting materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells is present ...

Hole-transporting material (HTMs) are crucial for obtaining the stability and high efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the current state-of-the-art n-i-p PSCs relied on the use of 2,2′,7,7′-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9′-spiro ...

In this work we show that the rate-dependent hysteresis seen in current-voltage scans of CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells is related to a slow field-induced process that tends to cancel the electric field in the device at each applied bias voltage. It is ...

Two D-pi-A dyes, one with a strong electron withdrawing cyanoacrylic acid DPP 20 and one with a weak acceptor carboxylic acid DPP 21 have been synthesized and characterized for their application in dye-sensitized solar cells. This allows us to understand t ...

A mere 2 nm conformal titanium dioxide overlayer coated by atomic layer deposition is shown to act as a blocking layer for high-efficiency solid-state perovskite (CH3NH3PbI3) absorber-based solar cells. Surpassing the existing multilayer passivation, this ...

Novel star-shaped hole transporting materials with a triazine unit have been synthesized. When the new Triazine-Th-OMeTPA was used as a hole transporting material in perovskite solar cells, the power conversion efficiency reached 12.51% under AM 1.5 G (100 ...

The present invention provides a solid state heterojunction solar cell comprising a transparent conducting support layer (2,3), on which a nanostructured, surface-increasing scaffold structure is provided, wherein an organic-inorganic perovskite layer (4) ...
