We designed and synthesized a new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) emitter, SBABz4, containing spiro-biacridine donor (D) in the core surrounded by two benzonitrile acceptors (A). The dual A-DxD-A structure is shown to provide pure-blue emission in rela ...

A series of coumarin dyes containing a low-band-gap chromophore of ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT), which comprises a coumarin moiety as the electron donor and a cyanoacrylic acid moiety as electron acceptor in D-pi-A chromophores, were developed for use in dye-sensitised solar cells (DSSCs). These coumarin dyes have been used to fabricate DSSCs using I-/I-3(-) liquid electrolytes and their device performances were compared with that of NKX-2677 as a standard dye. Even though HKK-CM2 and HKK-CM3 have more ext

Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) in the form of thin semitransparent film on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) exhibit high electrocatalytic activity for Co(L)(2); where L is 6-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine. The exchange current densities for the Co(2+/)3(+)(L)(2) redox ...

Strong scientific interests focus on the investigation of iodine-free redox couples for their application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Recently, a disulfide/thiolate-based redox electrolyte has been proposed as a valuable alternative to the conven ...

We have witnessed a wide range of theoretical as well as experimental investigations to envisage external stimuli induced changes in electronic, optical and magnetic properties in the metal organiccomplexes, while hybrid perovskites have recently joined th ...

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) have emerged as efficient hole-transport layers for inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs), yet molecular self-aggregation during assembly limits interfacial homogeneity and device performance. Here we report an indole-carbazole co-adsorption strategy by incorporating N-indoleacetic acid (Nd) into (4-(3,6-diphenyl-9H-carbazol-9-yl)butyl)phosphonic acid (Ph-4PACz) to construct phase-homogeneous monolayers. Nd interacts with Ph-4PACz via synergistic π–π stacking and hydrogen b

The interface tailoring is crucial for the efficiency and stability of Perovskite Solar Cells (PSCs). The reported interface engineering primarily focuses on the energy level turning and trap state passivation to improve the photovoltaic performance of PSC ...

In light-emitting electrochemical cells, the lifetime of the device is intrinsically linked to the stability of the phosphorescent emitter. In this study, we present a series of ionic iridium(III) emitters based on cyclometalating phenylpyridine ligands wh ...

The breakthrough discovery of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite materials for converting solar energy into electrical energy has revolutionized the third generation photovoltaic devices. Within less than half a decade of rigorous research and development ...

We report a combined spectro-photometric and computational investigation of the acid-base equilibria of the N3 solar cell sensitizer [Ru(dcbpyH(2))(2)(NCS)(2)] (dcbpyH(2) = 4,4'-dicarboxyl-2,2' bipyridine) in aqueous/ethanol solutions. The absorption spect ...

Investigations of blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on [Ir(2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine)(2)(picolinate)] (FIrPic) have pointed to the cleavage of the picolinate as a possible reason for device instability. We reproduced the ...

A novel, highly blue luminescent molecule containing donor and acceptor groups, 4,4 prime -di-(2-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl)-2,2 prime -bipyridine, that shows photoluminescence emission at 450 nm with 43% quantum yield is designed and synthesized. Time d ...

In the past few years, organic-inorganic halide perovskites have rapidly emerged as promising materials for photovoltaic applications, but simultaneously achieving high performance and long-term stability has proved challenging. Here, we show a one-step so ...

A phenomenally high molar extinction coefficient heteroleptic ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(4,4′-carboxylic acid-2,2′- bipyridine)(4,4′-(4-{4-methyl-2,5-bis[3-methylbutoxy]styryl}-2,5-bis[3- methylbutoxy]-2,2′-bipyridine)(NCS)2] (DCSC13) was synthesized by inco ...

Novel unsym. org. sensitizers comprising donor, electron-conducting and anchoring groups were engineered at a mol. level and synthesized for sensitization of mesoscopic TiO2 injection solar cells. The unsym. org. sensitizers 3-(5-(4-(diphenylamino)styryl)t ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) as an emerging photovoltaic technique have achieved exceptional power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 25.7% after fast development over the past decade. But currently some critical issues are still not well addressed in term ...

The extension of the light absorption of photovoltaics into the near-infrared region is important to increase the energy conversion efficiency. Although the progress of the lead halide perovskite solar cells is remarkable, and high conversion efficiency of ...

Amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) threshold in CsPbBr3 quantum dot films is systematically reduced by introducing high quality TiO2 compact layer grown by atomic-layer deposition. Uniform and pinhole-free TiO2 films of thickness 10, 20 and 50 nm are use ...

Surface passivation in perovskite solar cells can enhance device efficiency, yet incomplete interfacial functionality poses challenges to long-term reliability. Here we present a strategic interfacial engineering approach using sodium heptafluorobutyrate to fully functionalize the perovskite surface. Sodium heptafluorobutyrate acts as an ion shield that tunes the perovskite surface work function and increases the defect formation energy, resulting in an improved interface with the electron transport layer t

Dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cells (DSC) have received considerable attention as a cost-effective alternative to conventional solar cells. One of the main factors that has hampered widespread practical use of DSC is the poor thermostability encount ...
