This work reports the results of a layout-aware substrate modeling methodology for HVCMOS technologies. The model relies on the extraction of parasitic substrate network to simulate with circuit software parasitic lateral NPN bipolar transistors with multi ...

From first-order incremental Sigma Delta converters to controlled-oscillator-based converters, many ADC architectures are based on the continuous-time integration of the input signal. However, the accuracy of such converters cannot be properly estimated wi ...

A new technique for driving silicon-on-insulator pixel matrixes has been proposed in [1], which was based on transient charge pumping for evacuating the extra photogenerated charges from the body of the transistor. An 8x8 pixel matrix was designed and fabr ...

In this paper, a modeling methodology able to create an equivalent schematic of an High-Voltage integrated circuit is developed. The equivalent schematic is based on enhanced model of diodes and resistances, accounting for minority and majority carrier pro ...

This paper shows SPICE simulation results of active guard ring structures which are typically employed in Smart Power ICs. Active guard rings act as barriers limiting the flow of minority carriers injected into the substrate toward sensitive circuits. The ...

In this paper, a digital pixel sensor in silicon on insulator (SOI) is presented. The active part is a partially depleted SOI phototransistor. The technique elaborated in Harik et al. (2008) [1] was designed and implemented. Moreover, we took advantage of some of the characteristics of the floating body SOI MOSFET to implement a first order delta sigma modulator in each pixel. Measured data show that the pixel has a sensitivity of 3 mW/m2 and a resolution of about 7 bits. This pixel can be operated in two m

In centrifugal pumps, the interaction between the rotating impeller and the stationary diffuser generates specific pressure fluctuation patterns. When the pump is operated at off design conditions, these pressure fluctuations increase. The resulting rise o ...

The upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments at CERN sets new challenges for the powering of the detectors. One of the powering schemes under study is based on DC-DC buck converters mounted on the front-end modules. The hard environmental con ...

Closed-form expressions for static and dynamic parameters have been derived for the Current Steering Logic (CSL) inverter. Measurements and simulation results that validate these expressions are presented for a 2.5V power supply, Design guidelines are given for the application of CSL gates in low voltage, low power mixed analog/digital circuits.

This paper joins a series of papers dealing with high-speed power system emulators. It clarifies the last details about the system level of the AC emulation approach by analyzing and quantifying the systematic errors introduced during modeling. Thereby a new optimized generator model has been developed. Its main advantage is improved stability. The functionality of this optimized model is proven by behavioral simulation comparing its results to results of a numerical reference simulator and to the original

An implementation of a dynamic supply RF power amplifier (PA) in 0.11 mu m CMOS technology occupying a total area of 1.35mm(2) is presented. Two-tone measurement results at 2.4 and 5.2GHz show that the system can deliver over 16dBm linear output power with ...

Several Hall effect sensors were modeled and evaluated regarding the Hall voltage and sensitivity using 3D physical simulations. For accurate results the numerical offset and its temperature drift were analyzed. The versatility of the simulation allows var ...

A low-energy 2.4GHz RF transceiver supporting 1Mb/s Gaussian Frequency-Shift Keying modulation and designed to run on a 1.5V battery is implemented in a standard 0.18μm CMOS technology. The integrated DC-DC converter can provide up to 100mA to an external ...

In this paper, a digital pixel sensor in SOl is presented. The active part is a partially depleted Sol phototransistor. The technique elaborated in [I] was designed and implemented. Moreover, we took advantage of some of the characteristics of the floating ...

This paper strives to assemble consumers and providers of energy in a web platform. The goal is to highlight energy consumption of each user to push them to decrease their consumption. All the work is concentrated on a main concept key: to motivate populat ...

In this paper, an optimal filter design procedure is described, from the equation representing the behaviour of a ΣΔ modulator to a functional algorithm. The first section shows the design of an optimal filter for a first-order ΣΔ ADC with a constant input. Next, an algorithm for a time-varying input is detailed. The last algorithm allows an optimal decoding of high-resolution ADCs without an SH circuit.

This paper presents a methodology of a basic analog blocks retargeting from bulk to fully depleted (FD) SOI technology. The design methodology is generally not related to the model used for the circuit simulations. However, the proposed one is closely link ...

A closed-loop oscillator topology is proposed for dynamic sensor operation of nanoelectromechanical systems, benefiting from the structure's quality factor. Automatic adaptation to diverse sensors' properties is achieved via a self-regulating phase-locked ...

This paper presents a hybrid continuous-discrete-time Delta-Sigma modulator for portable communication systems following a low-power strategy. The proposed design methodology is extendable to different specifications. A multi-bit technique has been introdu ...

A tunable and self-regulating on-chip carbon nanotube based mass balance is presented for small-size and low-cost environmental and healthcare applications. Tube stretching and a phase-locked loop topology make the system widely universal and invariant to ...
