Classical substrate noise analysis considers the silicon resistivity of an integrated circuit only as doping dependent besides neglecting diffusion currents as well. In power circuits minority carriers are injected into the substrate and propagate by drift ...

This paper introduces some design and measurement techniques that were used in the design and the testing of an ASIC for ultra-low current sensing. The idea behind this paper is to present the limitations in sub-picoampere current measurements and demonstr ...

This paper highlights the increasing need for faster than real-time simulators of the electric power system and shows that microelectronic emulation is a very promising solution to overcoming speed problems of current numerical simulators. Research is focused on two different emulation approaches. Both of them are detailed in this paper and their electronic implementation is shown. Furthermore, the two approaches are compared and their final capabilities are depicted. By doing so, the paper shows that the t

This paper presents a complete portable laser-based projection system using twofold of one dimensional magnetic actuated MEMS linear scanning micro-mirrors. Dedicated high speed electronics was developed to drive the MEMS, detect the mirror scanning positi ...

Minority carriers diffusion currents are particularly important in parasitic substrate couplings of Smart Power ICs. In CMOS technologies the P-substrate potential is imposed by P+ contacts and N-wells by N+ highly doped implantations. The doping concentra ...

In this paper, we have used the partially depleted SOI MOSFET to measure the intensity of light. The charge pumping technique was used to get rid of the photogenerated carriers in the body in an attempt to keep the drain current constant. Using this techni ...

This paper presents a hierarchical design methodology based on the inversion factor (IF) as a key design parameter and the equations of the EKV MOS Model. A structured design approach is used to allow high flexibility. The efficiency of the methodology is ...

This paper presents a modeling methodology for substrate current coupling mechanisms. An enhanced model of the diode ensuring continuity of minority carriers is used to build an equivalent schematic, accounting for minority and majority carrier propagation ...

The differential difference amplifier (DDA) is considered as a versatile building block for the analogue processing of floating voltages. An automatic offset compensation scheme is proposed for the DDA structure. A digital successive approximation algorithm is implemented to reduce the offset input voltages. The proposed circuit has been fabricated and tested in a 0.8 mu m CMOS technology.

A novel technique for the continuous calibration of the sensitivity of Hall sensors is presented. Using an integrated coil and a new modulation/demodulation scheme, the sensitivity is measured and its drift eliminated. The obtained thermal drift is 50 ppm/ ...

This paper presents a detailed analysis of the CMOS Current Steering Logic (CSL) technique and compares experimentally its digital switching noise to that of the CMOS static logic. Theoretical analysis of the CSL inverter is developed. More complex gates using this technique are presented. Results are validated by simulations and measurement.

This paper presents a new modeling methodology accounting for generation and propagation of minority carriers that can be used directly in circuit-level simulators in order to estimate coupled parasitic currents. The model is based on a new compact model o ...

High voltage CMOS active devices inherently have a parasitic vertical bipolar transistor. The parasitic PNP structure can be activated during high-power switching operation causing a potential shift of the substrate. In this work a spice-modeling approach ...

Several Hall sensor configurations have been integrated in CMOS technology and analyzed in terms of offset at room temperature and offset drift. We looked for the best geometry that would minimize the offset and its drift. The targeted specification was 30 ...

Aims: To determine the optimal stimulation intensity for frontal stimulation with a modified slit lamp holder and to compare the reliability and symmetry of bone-conducted ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMPs) using two stimulation sites: f ...

The present invention exploits the impact ionization induced by drain voltage increase and the onset of a bipolar parasitic in an Omega-gate field effect metal oxide insulator transistor (called PI-MOS), in order to obtain a memory effect and abrupt curren ...

This paper presents a 5th-order ΔΣ capacitive accelerometer. The ΔΣ loop is implemented in mixed signal, the global 5th-order filter having a 2nd-order analog and a 3rd-order digital part. The system can be used with a wide range of sensors, because the mi ...

This paper presents a fully integrated Hall sensor microsystem with a current-mode output. The system operates in open-loop and includes a Hall sensor with internal biasing, a fully differential front-end, a preamplifier chain and a voltage-to-current conv ...

A fully integrated, area-efficient and ultra-low power management system for micro-power solar energy harvesting applications is proposed. This system harvests energy from miniaturised solar cells connected in series to charge a rechargeable microbattery. ...
