The energy relay dye, 4-(Dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM), was used with a near-infrared sensitizing dye, TT1, to increase the overall power conversion efficiency of a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) from 3.5% to 4.5%. Th ...

The electrochemical reduction of CO2 to CO is a reaction of central importance for sustainable energy conversion and storage. Herein, structure activity relationships of a series of imidazolium-based cocatalysts for this reaction are described, which demon ...

We report the use of Y3+-substituted TiO2 (0.5% Y-TiO2) in solid-state mesoscopic solar cells, consisting of CH3NH3PbI3 as the light harvester and spiro-OMeTAD as the hole transport material. A power conversion efficiency of 11.2% under simulated AM 1.5 fu ...

We report a series of "donor-free" dyes featuring moieties of oligo(4,4-dihexyl-4H-cyclopenta[1,2-b:5,4-b']dithiophene) (CPDT) functionalized with cyanoacrylic end groups for mesoscopic titania solar cells based on I-/I-3(-) or Co(II)/Co(III) redox couple ...

The hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (CH3NH3) PbI3 may find application in next generation solid-state sensitised solar cells. Although this material and related perovskites were discovered many decades ago, questions remain concerning their diverse str ...

Cost-effective organic sensitizers will play a pivotal role in the future large-scale production and application of dye-sensitized solar cells. Here we report two new organic D-π-A dyes featuring electron-rich 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene- and 2,2′-bis(3,4-e ...

The remarkably high open-circuit voltage of methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells is investigated. Both the theoretical maximum and the real open-circuit voltage are predicted from electroluminescence and photovoltaic external quantum efficienc ...

High-efficiency flexible dye-sensitized solar cells were fabricated with a Ti-metal foil substrate for photo anode and using a Pt-electrodeposited counter electrode on ITO/polyethylene naphthalate (ITO/PEN); these devices were characterized by incident pho ...

The present invention relates to a solid state photovoltaic device comprising a absorbing layer containing a light harvester and at least one templating agent, said absorbing layer being prepared in a single step. ...
