Despite the impressive photovoltaic performances of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a power conversion efficiency (PCE) beyond 22%, intensive studies are still required to overcome ongoing issues such as cost, stability, and hysteresis. Here, for the fi ...

A solid state p-n heterojunction comprising an electron conductor and a hole conductor; it further comprises a sensitising semiconductor, said sensitizing semiconductor being located at an interface between said electron conductor and said hole conductor. ...

Hybrid lead halide perovskites have emerged as high-performance photovoltaic materials with their extraordinary optoelectronic properties. In particular, the remarkable device efficiency is strongly influenced by the perovskite crystallinity and the film m ...

The high conversion efficiency has made metal halide perovskite solar cells a real break-through in thin film photovoltaic technology in recent years. Here, we introduce a straight-forward strategy to reduce the level of electronic defects present at the i ...

Although sunlight-driven water splitting is a promising route to sustainable hydrogen fuel production, widespread implementation is hampered by the expense of the necessary photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical apparatus. Here, we describe a highly efficie ...

Developing metal-free electrocatalysts with both high performance and low cost for the reduction reaction at the cathode of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) is critical for further cost reduction and large-scale implementation of DSCs. Here, sulfurdoped r ...

Energy transfer from phosphorescent ruthenium complex N877 dissolved in the liquid electrolyte to the squaraine sensitizer SQ1 anchored on the titanium oxide surface resulted in a four fold increase in external quantum efficiency in the blue part of the vi ...

With the aim of improving the rate capability and the safety of nanocrystalline Li4Ti5O12-based high power lithium ion batteries, two high boiling point nitrile-based electrolytes namely, 3-ethoxypropionitrile (CH3CH2OCH2CH2CN, EPN)/1 M LiTFSI and 3-(2,2,2 ...

Organometal halide perovskite solar cells have demonstrated high conversion efficiency but poor long-term stability against ultraviolet irradiation and water. We show that rapid light-induced free-radical polymerization at ambient temperature produces mult ...

Dye-sensitized nanocryst. TiO2 solar cells are currently under development. Since these cells contain an electrolyte soln. we reviewed the health and safety aspects in view of indoor applications, where personal contact cannot be excluded. Only small amts. of chems. are present in each cell and so there is no danger of acute toxicity. However, long-term effects often can be caused by incidental contact with minute amts. For this reason we have tested cis-di(thiocyanato)-bis(4,4'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine)Ru

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted much attention because of their rapid rise to 22% efficiencies. Here, we review the rapid evolution of PSCs as they enter a new phase that could revolutionize the photovoltaic industry. In particular, we describ ...

The present invention refers to using the principal of a room temperature molten ionic liquid, to an electrolyte, to devices comprising the ionic liquid co-melting, and to the preparation of a room temperature ionic liquid via various physical and chemical ...

A two-step deposition technique is used for preparing CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells. Using ZrO2 and TiO2 as a mesoporous layer, we obtain an efficiency of 10.8% and 9.5%, respectively, under 1000 W m(-2) illumination. The ZrO2 based solar cell shows hi ...

A reusable piezoelectric immunosensor has been developed for the detection of viruses and bacteria, playing an important role in acute diarrhea in early childhood. Three different methods for antibody immobilization to the gold electrode were tested. Coating the electrode with protein A gave the best results in terms of stability, sensitivity and reproducibility. Worse results were observed when coating the electrode with γ-amino propyltriethoxy silane and polyethyleneimine. Applying an antibody layer via p

Two novel hybrid sensitizers incorporating an organic antenna into a ruthenium complex have been synthesized and applied successfully in nanocrystalline TiO2 based solar cells, which yielded solar to electricity conversion efficiencies of 8.20-9.16% under ...

Hybrid (organic-inorganic) multication lead halide perovskites hold promise for a new generation of easily processable solar cells. Best performing compositions to date are multiple-cation solid alloys of formamidinium (FA), methylammonium (MA), cesium, an ...

In this contribution we give an overview of the recent development of metal-halide perovskite solar cells. We focus on the mixed electronic-ionic conductivity of this material, which causes hysteresis in the current-voltage curve. We discuss latest results ...
