One embodiment of this invention relates to a substrate (3) having a crystalline tin (IV) oxide film grown thereon, the film comprising a plurality of nanorods each of hick includes crystals grown along the c-axis of the tin (IV) oxide crystal. Another emb ...

Organic-inorganic hybrid systems based on lead halide compounds have recently encountered considerable success as light absorbers in solid-state solar cells. Herein we show how fundamental mechanistic processes in mesoporous oxide films impregnated with CH3NH3PbI3 can be investigated by time resolved techniques. In particular, charge separation reactions such as electron injection into the titanium dioxide film and hole injection into the hole transporting material spiro-OMeTAD as well as the corresponding

The development of new light harvesting materials is a key issue for the progress of the research on organic & hybrid photovoltaics. Here, we report a new class of organic sensitizers based on the bi-fluorenylidene moiety as p-linker within the donor–p-lin ...

A new phthalocyanine (Pc) bearing bulky peripheral substituents and a carboxylic anchoring group directly attached to the macrocycle has been prepared and used as a sensitizer in DSSCs, reaching 5.57% power conversion efficiency. In addition, an enhanced p ...

Surface defects cause non-radiative charge recombination and reduce the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), thus effective passivation of defects has become a crucial method for achieving efficient and stable devices. Organic ammoniu ...

The first examples of di-branched di-anchoring organic sensitizers were synthesized and used in dye-sensitized solar cells leading to red-shifted IPCE maxima and increased photocurrent when compared to the corresponding mono-branched mono-anchoring dye, yi ...

The exploration of alternative molecular hole-transporting materials (HTMs) specifically for high performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is a relatively recent research area. Aiming for further increasing the 'efficiency-cost ratio' of PSCs, we develope ...

One of the most challenging obstacles to commercialization of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is their instability toward environmental conditions. An emerging solution to overcome these challenges relies on graphene-based composites, in particular, solution ...

Additive engineering has been a crucial strategy to improve photovoltaic properties by reducing carrier trap centers or increasing carrier diffusion lengths in the lead halide perovskite active layer. We introduced a small amount of CH3NH3 +NO3 - (methylam ...

The sun finds a diamond in the rough, which is the organo-metal halide perovskite. Thanks to exceptional optoelectronic characteristics, solar cells employing perovskite demonstrated first a power conversion efficiency ( PCE) of 9.7% in the middle of 2012, ...

The most commonly used redox mediators in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), iodide/triiodide and cobalt trisbipyridine (Co(bpy)(3)), were successfully replaced by bis (2,9-dimethy1-1,10-phenanthroline) copp er (I/H) (Cu(dmp)(2)). The use ...

Li-TFSI is the most common p-dopant for the hole conductor spiro-MeOTAD in the normal structure (n-i-p) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), which consistently yield the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) albeit at the risk of lower long-term operation ...

A new class of tribranched dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) sensitizers carrying two conjugated donors and two acceptor/anchoring groups is introduced. The approach leads to significantly different optical properties and enhanced stability with respect to r ...

A fully conjugated unsymmetrical dimeric squaraine dye was synthesized. The synthetic key step for this dye, a selective Knoevenagel type condensation of end groups to the core moiety, allows the incorporation of a carboxylic acid function essentially for ...

We present efficient perovskite solar cells using a mesoscopic TiO2/Al2O3/NiO/carbon structure as framework. The CH(3)NH(3)Pbl(3)-based device with quadruple-layer architecture achieves a power conversion efficiency of 15.03% under AM 1.5G illumination. De ...

Three-layer structures of thick (>5 μm) films of nanosized titanium dioxide, zirconium dioxide, and carbon have been screen-printed on a semi-prodn. level for use in photosensitized photovoltaic devices. The films have been characterized using SEM, x-ray diffraction, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption. The rheol. of the screen-printing pastes has been measured and qual. matched to the quality of the resultant film. Three titanium dioxide candidates were evaluated for performance. At low light levels (

A review with 49 refs. The dye-sensitized nanocryst. injection solar cell employs transition metal complexes for spectral sensitization of mesoporous TiO2 films together with suitable redox electrolytes or amorphous org. hole conductors. Light harvesting occurs efficiently over the whole visible and near-IR range due to the very large internal surface area of the films. Judicious mol. engineering allows the photoinduced charge sepn. to occur quant. within a few femtoseconds. The certified overall power conv

It is not often that the scientific community is blessed with a material, which brings enormous hopes and receives special attention. When it does, it expands at a rapid pace and its every dimension creates curiosity. One such material is perovskite, which ...

Cyclohexanecarboxylic acid-[4-(3-tetradecylureido)phenyl]amide is an efficient gelator to solidify ionic liquid electrolytes. In this paper we apply this low molecular weight gelator to solidify the newly prepared sulfolane based ionic liquid electrolyte. ...

Dye adsorption plays a crucial role in dye-sensitized solar cells. Herein, we demonstrate an in situ liquid- phase analytical technique to quantify in real time adsorption of dye and coadsorbates on flat and mesoporous TiO2 films. For the first time, a mol ...
