All of the cations currently used in perovskite solar cells abide by the tolerance factor for incorporation into the lattice. We show that the small and oxidation-stable rubidium cation (Rb+) can be embedded into a "cation cascade" to create perovskite mat ...

The new gold(III) complexes: [Au{2-(2'-pyridyl) imidazolate}Cl-2] and [Au{2,6-bis(2'-benzimidazolate) pyridine}(OCOCH3)] and the mono-and binuclear gold(I) complexes: Au{2-(2'-pyridyl) imidazole} (PPh3), [Au(2-phenylimidazolate)(DAPTA)] (DAPTA = 3,7 ...

The composition of halide perovskite has rapidly changed from methylammonium lead triiodide (MAPbI3) to formamidinium lead triiodide (FAPbI3) to achieve high-performance solar cells with power conversion efficiencies of over 27%. FAPbI3 is well known for its suitable bandgap, closer to the ideal one, and improved stability under external stress. Nevertheless, the role of FA+ in determining the outstanding optoelectronic properties of FAPbI3, distinct from MAPbI3, is relatively less understood. In this revie

Transient absorption spectroscopy was used to probe the dynamics of photogenerated charge carriers in alpha-Fe2O3/CoOx nanocomposite photoelectrodes for water splitting. The addition of cobalt-based electrocatalysts was observed to increase the lifetime of ...

Metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) currently attract enormous research interest because of their high solar-to-electric power conversion efficiency (PCE) and low fabrication costs, but their practical development is hampered by difficulties in achi ...

A method of direct coating of conducting glass by electrospinning was developed. Electrospun fibrous TiO2 consisting of closely packed anatase nanocrystals of 40-50 nm in size was incorporated into mesoporous TiO2 thin film stabilized by phosphorus. The me ...

To apply impedance spectroscopy (IS) for studying charge transport in the mesoporous film of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ss-DSCs), it is necessary to determine the relative conductivities of the electron and hole transporting phases, given the ...

Novel donor-p-acceptor (D--A) dyes, coded as SD-1, SD-2 and SD-5, were designed and synthesized for dye-sensitized solar cells. All these dyes comprised the same donor and acceptor units while the oligo thiophene units were introduced as linkers between th ...

A series of squaraine-based sensitizers with various p bridges and anchors were prepared and examined in dye-sensitized solar cells. The carboxylic anchor group was attached onto a squaraine dye through p bridges with and without an ethynyl spacer. DFT stu ...

Solar-driven carbon dioxide reduction has witnessed a renaissance in the past decades, but the system suffers from low reaction rates. Here the authors develop a copper/tin-oxide electrocatalyst, achieving a new benchmark solar-to-CO energy conversion effi ...

A series of novel ionic liquids composed of imidazolium, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, and ammonium cations with tricyanomethanide or tetracyanoborate anions were prepared. The ionic liquids were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and ESI-mass spectrome ...

All current highest efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) use highly toxic, halogenated solvents, such as chlorobenzene (CB) or toluene (TLN), in an antisolvent step or as solvent for the hole transporter material (HTM). A more environmentally friendly ...

A dye sensitized solar cell, wherein a compacting compound whose molecular structure comprises a terminal group, a hydrophobic part and an anchoring group is co-adsorbed together with the dye on the semi-conductive metal oxide layer of the photoanode, form ...

Zinc oxide-titanium dioxide core-shell nanowire dye-sensitised solar cells have been synthesised, making use of a recently developed organic dye and iodide-based electrolyte. We have been able to demonstrate a cell efficiency of 2.53% under AM1.5 for our s ...

We investigate methylammonium (MA) transport in MA lead iodide under illumination and show this, as in the dark, to be measurable but negligible when compared with the major carriers. H-1 and C-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra show constant line ...

Lead-based mixed perovskite materials have emerged in the last couple of years as promising photovoltaic materials. Recently, it was shown that improved material stability can be achieved by incorporating small amounts of inorganic cations (Cs+ and Rb+), p ...

Solar energy is a promising solution to global energy-related problems because it is clean, inexhaustible and readily available. However, the deployment of conventional photovoltaic cells based on silicon is still limited by cost, so alternative, more cost ...

In this paper, we present a way of utilizing thin and conformal overlayer of titanium dioxide on insulating mesoporous template as a photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC). Different thicknesses of TiO2 ranging from 1 nm to 15 nm are deposited on ...

A nanocrystalline TiO2 (anatase) nanosheet ex- posing mainly the (001) crystal faces was tested as photo- anode material in dye-sensitized solar cells. The nanosheets were prepared by hydrothermal growth in HF medium. Good-quality thin films were deposited ...

Transient absorption spectroscopy on subpicosecond to second time scales is used to investigate photogenerated charge carrier recombination in Si-doped nanostructured hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) photoanodes as a function of applied bias. For unbiased hematite, ...
