Inorganic-organic hybrid structures have become innovative alternatives for next-generation dye-sensitized solar cells, because they combine the advantages of both systems. Here, we introduce a layered sandwich-type architecture, the core of which comprise ...

Solar cells employing a halide perovskite with an organic cation now show power conversion efficiency of up to 22%. However, these cells are facing issues towards commercialization, such as the need to achieve long-term stability and the development of a m ...

We report seven heteroleptic cationic iridium(III) complexes with cyclometalating N-arylazoles and alkyl/aryl isocyanides, ((CN)-N-boolean AND)(2)Ir(CNR)(2), and characterize two of them by crystal structure analysis. The complexes are air- and m ...

A novel thiocyanate-free cyclometalleted ruthenium sensitizer for solar cells is designed and developed. Upon anchoring to nanocrystalline TiO2 films, it exhibits a remarkable incident monochromatic photon-to-current conversion efficiency of 83%. The solar ...

Different-sized nanocrystalline-TiO2 particles have been used for the optimization of photovoltaic er effects of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) using an ionic-liquid (IL) electrolyte. Ru dye (Z907) was used for the IL-DSC optimization. The TiO2 nanopart ...

We report a combined experimental and computational investigation to understand the nature of the interactions between cobalt redox mediators and TiO2 surfaces sensitized by :ruthenium and organic dyes, and their impact on. the performance of the correspon ...

A promising approach for the production of highly efficient and stable hybrid perovskite solar cells is employing mixed-ion materials. Remarkable performances have been reached by materials comprising a stabilized mixture of methylammonium (MA(+)) and form ...

One source of instability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is interfacial defects, particularly those that exist between the perovskite and the hole transport layer (HTL). We demonstrate that thermally evaporated dopant-free tetra-cene (120 nm) on top of t ...

Perovskite solar cells are one of the most promising photovoltaic technologies with their extraordinary progress in efficiency and the simple processes required to produce them. However, the frequent presence of a pronounced hysteresis in the current volta ...

A promising approach for upgrading the performance of an established low-bandgap solar technology without adding much cost is to deposit a high bandgap polycrystalline semiconductor on top to make a tandem solar cell. We use a transparent silver nanowire e ...

A photo-assisted electrodeposition approach was used to deposit a cobalt-phosphate water oxidation catalyst ("Co-Pi") onto recently improved dendritic mesostructures of alpha-Fe2O3. A comparison between this approach, electrodeposition of Co-Pi, and Co2+ w ...

We report humidity assisted thermal exposure (HTE) as a post-treatment method for carbon based printed perovskite solar cells (CPSCs). The method does not only improve the interfaces of different layers of the printed stack, but also provides a pathway to ...

Solar fuels offer a promising approach to provide sustainable fuels by harnessing sunlight(1,2). Following a decade of advancement, Cu2O photocathodes are capable of delivering a performance comparable to that of photoelectrodes with established photovolta ...

The power conversion efficiency of a dye-sensitized solar cell with tailored squaraine dye enhanced by 47%, due to Forster resonance energy transfer from CdSe quantum dots to the squaraine dye. The incident photons to collection efficiency of electrons ind ...

The iodide/triiodide redox shuttle has limited the efficiencies accessible in dye-sensitized solar cells. Here, we report mesoscopic solar cells that incorporate a Co((II/III))tris(bipyridyl)-based redox electrolyte in conjunction with a custom synthesized ...

The ability of Pt nanostructures to induce the splitting of the I-I bond in iodine (triiodide) molecules is explored here to enhance electron transfer in the iodine/iodide redox couple. Following the dispersal of Pt nanoparticles at 2% (weight) level, char ...

A wire shaped coaxial photovoltaic solar cell comprising: a conductive core wire shaped support (401), a nanostructured semiconductor scaffold layer (402), one or more successive perovskite layers (403), an optionally provided hole transporting material la ...

We report on the preparation of MAPbBr(3) perovskite films of high electronic quality by applying a methylamine (MA) vapor treatment and mitigating surface defects using the amphiphilic molecular passivator, neopentylammonium chloride (NPACl). We find that ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as transformative technology in the field of photovoltaics. Following their inception in year 2009, they have become within a decade the leading candidate for next‐generation photovoltaics due to their exceptional efficiency, low‐cost processing, and tunable optoelectronic properties. However, challenges surrounding long‐term stability, lead toxicity, and industrial scalability remain major barriers to large‐scale commercialization. This perspective explores the ce

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is a promising clean route to hydrogen fuel. The best-performing materials (III/V semiconductors) require surface passivation, as they are liable to corrosion, and a surface co-catalyst to facilitate water splitti ...
