The impacts of halide and nonhalide sources of guanidinium cations, including guanidinium chloride (GCl) ((NH2)(3)CCl) and guanidinium thiocyanate (GTC) ((NH2)(3)CSCN), are comparatively analyzed on the structural, morphological, and photophysical properti ...

We present a first-principles computational investigation on the adsorption mode and electronic structure of the highly efficient heteroleptic ruthenium dye C101, [NaRu(4,4'-bis(5-hexylthiophene-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(4-carboxylic acid-4'-carboxylate-2,2'- ...

Perovskite-sensitized solar cells have reached power conversion efficiencies comparable to commercially available solar cells used for example in solar farms. In contrast to silicon solar cells, perovskite-sensitized solar cells can be made by solution pro ...

Ionic liquids containing the nitrile and vinyl functional groups attached to imidazolium cations combined with various anions, e.g., iodide, bis[(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl]imide ([TFSI]-), or dicyanamide ([N(CN)2]-), have been prepared and characterized. Th ...

Amphiphilic sensitizers are central to the function of dye-sensitized solar cells. It is known that the cells performance depends on the molecular arrangement and the density of the dye on the semiconductor surface, but a molecular-level picture of the cel ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) based on cesium (Cs)- and rubidium (Rb)-containing perovskite films show highly reproducible performance; however, a fundamental understanding of these systems is still emerging. Herein, this study has systematically investiga ...

Employing a mesoscopic titania photoanode whose bilayer structure was judiciously selected to fit the optoelectronic characteristics of the Ru-based heteroleptic complex Na-cis-Ru(4,4'-(5-hexyltiophen-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(4-carboxylic-acid-4'-carboxylate ...

Facet engineering is an important strategy for tuning the physical, chemical, and electronic properties of a crystal surface, and it also provides an effective route to improve the device performance in many fields. Complex crystal structures with rough mo ...

We report using doctor-blading to replace conventional spin coating for the deposition of the hole-transport material spiro-OMeTAD (2,2',7,7'-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene) in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells. Doctor-bla ...

LENI activities in SOFC are focused on development of a new planar stack concept based on anode supported cells in collaboration with the company HTceramix SA. Modeling of repeat element, stack and systems is starting in parallel. This work presents a mode ...

Ionic liquids have been identified as a new class of solvent that offers opportunities to move away from the traditional solvents. The physical-chemical properties of ionic liquids can be tuned and controlled by tailoring their structures. The typical prop ...

The presence of bulk and surface defects in perovskite light harvesting materials limits the overall efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The formation of such defects is suppressed by adding methylammonium chloride (MACl) as a crystallization aid ...

Colloidal quantum dot (CQD) photovoltaics combine low-cost solution processability with quantum size-effect tunability to match absorption with the solar spectrum. Rapid recent advances in CQD photovoltaics have led to impressive 3.6% AM1.5 solar power con ...

Over the past decades, there have been many projections on the future depletion of the fossil fuel reserves on earth as well as the rapid increase in green-house gas emissions. There is clearly an urgent need for the development of renewable energy technol ...

Two new organic D-pi-A dyes containing identical pi-conjugated spacer and anchoring/acceptor moieties but different donor groups were designed and synthesized. These dyes containing didodecylcyclopentadithiophene (CPDT) as a spacer, cyanoacrylic acid as an ...

Nanocrystalline semiconductor films are constituted by a network of mesoscopic oxide particles, such as TiO2, ZnO, Nb2O5 which are interconnected to allow for electronic conduction to take place. The pores between the particles are filled with a semiconducting or a conducting medium, such as a hole transmitter or an electrolyte, forming a junction of extremely large contact area. The salient features of such mesoporous films are: i) an extremely large internal surface area, the roughness factors being in ex

Recent advances in the use of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites for optoelectronics have been rapid, with reported power conversion efficiencies of up to 22 per cent for perovskite solar cells1-9. Improvements in stability have also enabled testing over ...

This invention pertains to light emitting materials comprising novel ortho-metalated transition metal complexes [C^N]2ML, comprising chelate monoionic ligands (L), also called ancillary ligands. It has been surprisingly found that when the ancillary ligand ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells are a promising alternative to traditional inorganic semiconductor- based solar cells. Here we report an open-circuit voltage of over 1,000 mV in mesoscopic dye- sensitized solar cells incorporating a molecularly engineered cobal ...
