Organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite solar cells show hysteresis in their current-voltage curve measured at a certain voltage sweep rate. Coinciding with a slow transient current response, the hysteresis is attributed to a slow voltage-driven (ionic) ...

Organo-lead halide perovskites have attracted much attention for solar cell applications due to their unique optical and electrical properties. With either low-temperature solution processing or vacuum evaporation, the overall conversion efficiencies of pe ...

A facile and low-cost dip-coating process for the deposition of silicon doped hematite films (Si:alpha-Fe2O3) for hydrogen production by solar water splitting in photo-electrochemical cells (PEC) is presented. The precursors include iron nitrate, oleic aci ...

We have designed and synthesized highly efficient organic sensitizers with a planar thienothiophene-vinylene-thienothiophene linker. Under standard global AM 1.5 solar conditions, the JK-113-sensitized cell gave a short circuit photocurrent density (J(sc)) ...

New polypyridyl ruthenium(II) complexes "cis-Ru(4,4'-dimesity1-2,2'-bipyridine) (Ln) (NCS)(2) H102" and "cis-Ru(4,4'-bis(2,3,6-tri-isopropylphenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine) (Ln) (NCS)(2) H105", where Ln = 4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine; were synthesized an ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have emerged as excellent absorber materials for next generation solar cells owing to their simple solution-processed synthesis and high efficiency. This breakthrough in photovoltaics along with an a ...

Organic semiconductors have been proven to be suitable for efficient photovoltaic generation during the last decade but have been scarcely assessed as photoelectrochemical devices. In this work we present the fabrication and characterization of a new effic ...

A photovoltaic cell comprising: a light transmitting electrically conductive layer deposited on a glass plate or a transparent polymer sheet to which a series of titanium dioxide layers have been applied, in which at least the last titanium dioxide layer (optionally also the second to last and the third to last layer) are doped with a metal ion which is selected from a divalent or trivalent metal.

The internal transport and recombination parameters of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSCs) using the amorphous organic semiconductor 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9'-spirobtfluorene (spiro-MeOTAD) as a hole transport materia ...

Understanding and controlling surface structure at the atomic scale is essential in functional materials, yet direct and selective surface characterization in such systems remains a challenge. Here a broadly applicable strategy for surfaceonly solid-state NMR enabled by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is introduced. The method exploits partially deuterated vitrified solvents as proximity "probe" molecules and 2 H-based dipolar dephasing to filter out signals from the bulk, thereby providing clear detecti

The present invention relates to an optoelectronic device comprising an electron transport layer (ETL) and a light harvesting layer, wherein the light harvesting layer comprises a metal halide perovskite and is provided on the ETL being a multilayer struct ...

The origin, the nature, and the electronic structure of surface defects causing surface states on metal oxides and their role in solar water splitting have been under scrutiny for several decades. In the present study, the surface of hematite films is trea ...

Low-dimensional hybrid perovskites have emerged as promising materials for optoelectronic applications. Although these materials have already demonstrated enhanced stability as compared to their three-dimensional perovskite analogues, their functionality h ...

Desirable components for dye-sensitzed solar cell ( DSC) sensitizers and fluorescent imaging dyes include strong donating building blocks coupled with well-balanced acceptor functionalities for absorption beyond the visible range. We have evaluated the eff ...

The onset potential of photoelectrochemical water oxidation on ultrathin hematite was improved by up to 200 mV by the chemical bath deposition of 13-group oxides as overlayers. It is proposed that the corundum-type overlayers released lattice strain of the ...

Lead halide perovskites have attracted considerable interest as photoabsorbers in PV-applications over the last few years. The most studied perovskite material achieving high photovoltaic performance has been methyl ammonium lead iodide, CH3NH3PbI3. Recent ...

Zinc(II) phthalocyanine dyes that contain triarylamine-terminated bisthiophene and hexylbisthiophene groups have been synthesized by a convergent approach by using carboxytriiodoZnPc as a precursor. Further transformation of the iodo groups by a Pd-catalyz ...

ZnO thin films having a nanocolumnar microstructure are grown by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition at 423 K on pre-treated fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrates. The films consist of c-axis-oriented wurtzite ZnO nanocolumns with well-defined mi ...

The carbon neutral process for energy conversion is of utmost importance, in this context photovoltaics, especially dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are a viable alternative. Few terawatts of carbon free renewable energy can be produced by DSSCs. However ...

The defects present in metal halide perovskite are deleterious to both the performance and stability of photovoltaic devices. Consequently, there is an intense focus on developing defect mitigation strategies. Herein we report a facile strategy that employ ...
