Citrazinic acid is used as a convenient starting material for both tridentate 2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)-pyridine and tetradentate 6,6'-di(pyrazol-1-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine ligands containing carboxylic groups useful for further anchoring of sensitizer on TiO2 for d ...

We present the photoelectrochemical properties of dye-sensitized solar cells using natural pigments containing betalains and anthocyanins as sensitizers. The dyes extracted from grape, mulberry, blackberry, red Sicilian orange, Sicilian prickly pear, eggpl ...

The paper reviews recent advances in the application of graphene and related materials, viz. graphene nanoplatelets (GNP), functionalized graphene sheets (FGS), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as electrode building materials in dye-se ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have become the representatives of next generation of photovoltaics; nevertheless, their stability is insufficient for large scale deployment, particularly the reverse bias stability. Here, we propose a transparent conducting ...

Two thiocyanate-free ruthenium(II) sensitizers, TFRS-41 and TFRS-42, with distinctive dialkoxyphenyl thienyl substituents were successfully prepared and tested for potential applications in making dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Subsequent device fabric ...

A physical model is presented for the semiconductor electrode of a photoelectrochemical cell. The model accounts for the potential drop in the Helmholtz layer and thus enables description of both band edge pinning and unpinning. The model is based on the c ...

Disclosed is a photovoltaic cell comprising a substrate having an electrode layer (1) on the surface and having a porous metal oxide semiconductor film (2) which is formed on the electrode layer (1) and on which a photosensitizer is adsorbed, a substrate having an electrode layer (3) on the surface, both of said substrates being arranged in such a manner that the electrode layer (1) and the electrode layer (3) face each other, and an electrolyte layer provided between the semiconductor film (2) and the elec

We employ flash infrared annealing to investigate the phase transition of formamidinium lead triiodide (FAPbI(3)) thin films for their solar cell applications. Measuring the enthalpy changes of the FAPbI(3) composition at different heating rates allows us ...

We systematically studied the temperature-dependent physicochemical properties, such as density, conductivity, and fluidity, of 1,3-dialkylimidazolium iodides. In combination with the amphiphilic Z907Na sensitizer, we have found that it is important to use ...

Nowadays, the efficient, stable, and scalable conversion of solar energy into chemical fuels represents a great scientific, economic, and ethical challenge. Amongst the available candidate technologies, photoelectrochemical water splitting potentially has ...

Hematite photoanodes for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting are often fabricated as extremely-thin films to minimize charge recombination because of the short diffusion lengths of photoexcited carriers. However, poor crystallinity caused by structu ...

Recently, organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites have been intensively studied for use in solar cells because of their low cost and high performance. Most of the efficient perovskite solar cells (PVSCs) need layer-dependent high-temperature treatment fo ...

New binary ionic liquid electrolytes based on 1-methyl-1-butylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluromethylsulfonyl)imide, 1-butylpyridinium bis(trifluromethylsulfonyl)imide, 1-methyl-3-ethylimidazolium bis(trifluromethylsulfonyl)imide, 1-methyl-3-ethylimidazolium tetr ...

Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanoporous layers were prepared with electro-oxidative polymerization using room temperature hydrophobic ionic liquids as a medium. The synthesized highly porous PEDOT films exhibit room temperature conductivity va ...

We present a device based study into the operation of liquid electrolyte dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC's) using organic dyes. We find that, for these systems, it is entirely necessary to employ a compact TiO2 layer between the transparent fluorine doped ...

Tin-based halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) hold the most promise among lead-free PSCs, but they are plagued with inadequate environmental stability and power-conversion efficiency (PCE). Here we demonstrate that the optimum incorporation of a bulky div ...

The Photocatalytic film of semiconducting iron oxide (Fe2O3), contains an n-dopant, or a mixture of n-dopants, or a p-dopant or a mixture of p-dopants. Electrode consists of a substrate, with one ore more films or photocatalytic arrangements of film of semiconducting n-doped or p-doped iron oxide (Fe2O3) e.g. on the surface of one side of the substrate or on the surface of different sides. The photoelectrochemical cell comprises electrodes with a film or with films of the n-doped or p-doped semiconducting i

We present an investigation on a power pack combining a CH3NH3PbI3-based solar cell with a polypyrrole-based supercapacitor and evaluate its performance as an energy pack. The package achieved an energy storage efficiency of 10%, which is much higher than ...

Despite tremendous progress in efficiency and stability, perovskite solar cells are still facing the challenge of upscaling. Here we present unique advantages of reactive polyiodide melts for solvent- and adduct-free reactionary fabrication of perovskite f ...

Two donoracceptor molecular tweezers incorporating the 10-(1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)anthracene unit as donor group and two cyanoacrylic units as accepting/anchoring groups are reported as metal-free sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells. By changing the ...
