Photocathodes based on cuprous oxide (Cu2O) are promising materials for large scale and widespread solar fuel generation due to the abundance of copper, suitable bandgap, and favorable band alignments for reducing water and carbon dioxide. A protective ove ...

Heteroaromatic units are commonly used as pi-spacers for sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Here, we investigated the influence of the pi-spacer on the photophysical properties, electrochemical properties and photovoltaic performance of car ...

We found for the first time a new origin of selection of perovskite crystallization pathways from DMF solutions containing MAI and PbI2 to present here a comprehensive study of a full set of essential intermediate phases determining the perovskite's morpho ...

An investigation of the function of an indolene-based organic dye, termed D149, incorporated in to solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells using 2,2',7,7'- tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxypheny-amine)-9,9' - spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD) as the hole transport mat ...

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries have emerged as promising candidates for safe and cost-effective energy storage, yet their performance remains constrained by electrode stability and electrolyte composition. In this study, we investigate the electrochemical beha ...

The overall energy efficiency (EE) is critical for commercializing promising electrochemical technologies, such as the carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR). Despite the rapid development of advanced catalysts and reactors for CO2RR, its commercial pot ...

Artificial photosynthesis is an effective way of converting CO2 into fuel and high value-added chemicals. However, the sluggish interfacial electron transfer and adsorption of CO2 at the catalyst surface strongly hamper the activity and selectivity of CO2 ...

The influence of different redox mediators and electrolyte constituents on charge transfer processes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) was studied by contactless transient photoconductance (TPC) measurements. Device subsets without FTO (Fluorine-doped ti ...

Cuprous oxide (Cu2O) is a promising photocathode material for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Recently, the PEC performances of Cu2O-based devices have been considerably improved by introducing nanostructures, semiconductor overlayers, and hydr ...

Organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites have recently received significant attention as active materials for high-performance photovoltaics and photo-detectors. However, the understanding of their operation mechanism remains limited. High-gain, low-volta ...

To dye for: A porphyrin chromophore, which is integrated into a donor-acceptor dye as a π-conjugated bridge (see picture), exhibits an unprecedented efficiency of 11 □ % when used as a photosensitizer in a double-layer TiO2 film. A greatly enhanced photovo ...

The carrier transport layer plays a critical role in high efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, CsPbBr3 quantum dots-sensitized mesoporous TiO2 (CPB-TiO2) electron transport layer for fabricating high-quality perovskite films with en ...

High-performance perovskite solar cells (PSCs) typically require interfacial passivation, yet this is challenging for the buried interface, owing to the dissolution of passivation agents during the deposition of perovskites. Here, this limitation is overco ...

A major limitation of solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells is a short electron diffusion length, which is due to fast recombination between electrons in the TiO2 electron-transporting layer and holes in the 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine) ...

The molecular structures and electronic and optical properties of 2,2'7,7'-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenyl amine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-MeOTAD) in different oxidation states have been investigated by means of DFT/TDDFT methods. Spiro-MeOTAD has been ...

A new class of thiocyanate-free Ru(II) sensitizers with 4,4-dicarboxyvinyl-2,2-bipyridine anchor and two trans-oriented pyrid-2-yl pyrazolate (or triazolate) functional chromophores is synthesized, characterized, and evaluated in dye-sensitized solar cells ...

Nickel iron layered double hydroxide (NiFe LDH) is one of the best oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts in alkaline electrolytes. However, it performs poorly in neutral electrolytes, and the detailed mechanism is still unclear. Herein, we introduce el ...

The stability of perovskite solar cells is a key issue for industrial development. One reason for this is the volatile organic methylammonium (MA) cation, which is prone to degas under elevated temperatures from the perovskite. At the same time, small amou ...

A series of novel polymers (P1P6) derived from the combination of different units (including thiophene, triarylamine, and spirobifluorene) were successfully synthesized, completely characterized, and used as hole-transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskit ...

Low-temperature solution-processed photovoltaics suffer from low efficiencies because of poor exciton or electron-hole diffusion lengths (typically about 10 nanometers). Recent reports of highly efficient CH3NH3PbI3-based solar cells in a broad range of co ...
