A new hole-transport material (HTM) based on the 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety (H1) was prepared through a single-step synthetic pathway starting from commercially available products. Thanks to a deep HOMO level, H1 was used as HTM in CH3NH3PbBr3 perovskite sola ...

Stacked multijunction (tandem) solar cells have been prepared by mechanically stacking dye-sensitised solar cells (DSCs) and a GaAs/AlXGa(1-X)As graded solar cell (GGC) as the top and bottom cells, respectively. Three organic dyes with different absorption ...

Hematite is a promising material for inexpensive solar energy conversion via water splitting but has been limited by the large overpotential (0.5-0.6 V) that must be applied to afford high water oxidation photocurrent. This has conventionally been addresse ...

The present invention provides a porous semiconductor electrode passivated by way of a layer applied by an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. The semiconductor electrode can be advantageously used in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) having increase op ...

Thin semitransparent films were fabricated on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) from single-layer graphene oxide (GO) either pure or in a composite with graphene nanoplatelets. Electrocatalytic activity of prepared films was tested for the Co(bpy)(3)(3+/2+) redox couple ...

The defects located at the interfaces and grain boundaries (GBs) of perovskite films are detrimental to the photovoltaic performance and stability of perovskite solar cells. Manipulating the perovskite crystallization process and tailoring the interfaces w ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have been undergoing rapid development with the vast combinatorial exploration of recipes; however, the related research suffers from time-consuming trial-and-error synthesis and labor-intensive fabrication. As a promising alternative, interconnected robotic boxes that integrate fabrication and characterization enable high-throughput experimentation and data collection; however, the resulting numerical datasets are often insufficiently analyzed and fail to provide effective fee

However, its green production process is expensive, involving water electrolysis, which requires a significant amount of energy. New technologies have been developed to decrease the cost associated with water electrolysis, such as using microbial electroly ...

A sensor element (1, 20, 21, 22) capable of sensing more than one spectral band of electromagnetic radiation with the same (x-y) spatial location, especially where the dimensions x-y-z form a set of Cartesian coordinates with z parallel to the direction of ...

Nonaqueous synthesis routes have emerged as a powerful platform for directly obtaining diverse metal oxide nanoparticles with high crystallinity and tunable compositions. The benzyl alcohol (BA) route, for example, has been applied toward dozens of oxides ...

We report a facile synthetic route to obtain functionalized quaterpyridine ligand and its trans-dithiocyanato ruthenium complex, based on a microwave-assisted procedure. The ruthenium complex has been purified using a silica chromatographic column by prote ...

The high molar absorption coefficient organic D-pi-A dye C220 exhibits more than 6% certified electric power conversion efficiency at AM 1.5G solar irradiation (100 mW cm(-2)) in a solid-state dye sensitized solar cell using 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-dimethox ...

We investigate a set of donor-pi-acceptor (D-pi-A) dyes with new acceptor groups for dye-sensitized solar cells, using time-dependent density-functional-theory calculations of the electronic structure and optical absorption. We considered three types of mo ...

A new heteroleptic ruthenium complex, coded CYC-B13, incorporating an antenna ligand composed of the sequential connection of a Conjugated segment and carbazole hole-transport moiety was prepared. This new sensitizer exhibits the lower energy MLCT band cen ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) represent a valuable, efficient, and low-cost alternative to conventional semiconductor photovoltaic devices. A deeper understanding of the interactions at the dye/semiconductor heterointerface is fundamental for future pro ...

Methylammonium (MA)-free perovskites such as Cs(x)FA(1-x)PbX(3) (CsFA) show excellent thermal stability, favoring their use in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of CsFA lags behind that of MA-containing formulati ...

Exploration of new ruthenium-based sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) applications requires an easy access to multifunctionalized ligands for efficient screening of sensitizers' properties. Based on the Horner-Emmons-Wadsworth reaction, a conv ...

Graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) in the form of thin semitransparent films on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) exhibit high electrocatalytic activity for the Co(bpy)(3)(3+/2+) redox couple in acetonitrile electrolyte solution. The GNP film is superior to the traditional ele ...

Transition metal chalcogenide crystalline films FeSe2, Cu1.8S, and CuSe have been deposited from solution by drop casting their dissolved inks onto a conductive substrate, followed by a mild thermal treatment. We demonstrate that the resulting chalcogenide ...

Lead halide perovskite solar cells now show excellent efficiencies and encouraging levels of stability. Further improvements in performance require better control of the trap states which are considered to be associated with vacancies and defects at crysta ...
