The increasing global demand for sustainable energy solutions necessitates innovative approaches to hydrogen production. This study investigates the use of laser pyrolysis as a rapid and efficient method for converting biomass into hydrogen-rich gas, bioch ...

Cobalt porphine (CoP) dissolved in the organic phase of a biphasic system is used to catalyze O2 reduction by an electron donor, ferrocene (Fc). Using voltammetry at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES), it is possible to driv ...

The challenge to produce multicarbon (C2+) products in high current densities in the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR) has motivated intense research. However, the ability of solvated cations to tune and activate water for C2+ production in the CO2RR has been overlooked. In this study, we report the incorporation of a covalently grown layer of functionalized phenyl groups on the Cu surface that leads to a 7-fold increase in ethylene production (to -530 mA cm-2) and a 6-fold increase in C2+

Simple methods to self-assemble coatings and films encompassing nanoparticles are highly desirable in many practical scenarios, yet scarcely any examples of simple, robust approaches to coat macroscopic droplets with continuous, thick (multilayer), reflect ...

The water oxidation process in acidified water/acetonitrile mixtures was studied by cyclic voltammetry using fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) electrodes modified layer-by-layer with deposited bilayers of positively charged poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) ...

Soft-ionization methods, namely electrospray ionization and laser desorption/ionization, are widely used to transfer large molecules as intact gas-phase ions either from a solution or from a solid substrate. During both processes, in-source electrochemical ...

In this work, the use of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) against the degradation of an emerging contaminant has been subjected under systematic investigation. The optimization of treatment of the anti- depressant drug Venlafaxine (VFA) was performed, u ...

The transfer mechanism of 1-pyrene sulfonate anion (PSA−) across the polarized water 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface was investigated by a combination of electrochemical techniques and potential modulated fluorescence (PMF) spectroscopy under total inte ...

An experimental setup to study the pH dependence of standard ion-transfer potentials at the water/NPOE interface is presented. The system is composed of a micro-hole generated by laser photoablation in a 12-μm polyethylene terephthalate film, the aqueous p ...

Prussian blue (PB) and Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) are commonly synthesized by conventional methods, such as chemical precipitation, thermal decomposition, and electrochemical deposition. Herein, we have successfully synthesized Prussian blue by oxidati ...

Biomass splitting into gases and solids using flash light irradiation is introduced as an efficient photo-thermal process to photo-pyrolyze dried natural biomass powders to valuable syngas and conductive porous carbon (biochar). The photo-thermal reactions ...

Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) offers a highly sensitive and convenient approach for electrochemical mapping of interleukin-6 (IL-6), an oral cancer protein biomarker. In this study, we utilized the SECM to map the distribution of IL-6 for imag ...

A versatile microreactor protocol based on microfluidic droplets has been developed for on-line protein digestion. Proteins separated by liquid chromatography are fractionated in water-in-oil droplets and digested in sequence. The microfluidic reactor acts ...

A combination of an immuno-affinity enrichment strategy and sensitive amperometric read-out was implemented in a point-of-care platform intended for bacterial infection analysis. Bacterial cells, selectively captured and enriched from complex matrices thro ...

An amperometric test for the antioxidant power (AOP) of biological and food samples is presented. The gist of the method is to measure by linear sweep voltammetry the anodic current produced during the oxidation of the labile species present in the sample ...

The feasibility of high-throughput scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) of strongly tilted (tilt angles ≤4°) and curved substrates (diameter of curvature ≥9 cm) is demonstrated by brushing them with a soft linear array of carbon microelectrodes. This ...

Continuous hydrothermal flow synthesis (CHFS) of Ni-Fe layered double hydroxide (LDH) leads to waterborne dispersions of 2D nanoplatelets in the range of 10-50 nm in lateral size. Conversion of the as-synthesized LDH nanoplatelet dispersion into inkjet pri ...

This paper reports light driven hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at 1,2-dichloroethane | water (DCE | W) interface using photoexcited decamethylruthenocene (DMRc) as electron donor. DMRc is in situ regenerated by electroreduction of its oxidized form (DMR ...

The heterogeneous photoinduced electron transfer involving dyes adsorbed at the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions and redox molecules located in the adjacent phase manifests itself as photocurrent responses under potentiostatic conditi ...

Over the last decades, the interface between two immiscible electrolyte solutions (ITIES) attracted considerable attention of the scientific community due to their vast applications, such as extraction, catalysis, partition studies and sensing. The aim of ...
