This paper evaluated the use of soft-probe scanning electrochemical microscopy complementarily with confocal laser scanning microscopy to study the effects of different antimicrobial agents and treatments on E. coli DH5α biofilm. The antimicrobial agents w ...

Phosphopeptides tagging reactions by dinuclear zinc(II) complexes (1,3-bis[bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]-propan- 2-olato dizinc(II)3+, called tag) were performed with a dual-channel microsprayer in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The reaction is fi ...

There has been a recent trend towards the miniaturization of analytical tools, but what are the advantages of microfluidic devices and when is their use appropriate? Recent advances in the field of micro-analytical systems can be classified according to instrument performance (which refers here to the desired property of the analytical tool of interest) and two important features specifically related to miniaturisation, namely reduction of the sample volume and the time-to-result. Here we discuss the contri

Herein, we introduce three orthogonal and compatible methods for detecting tyrosinase, a key factor in fruit browning and skin disorders, with high spatial resolution by means of scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). All methods are performed subsequ ...

Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) was used to monitor in situ hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) produced at a polarized water/1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface. The water/DCE interface was formed between a DCE droplet containing decamethylferrocene (DMFc) ...

All redox flow batteries suffer from low energy storage density in comparison with conventional Li-ion batteries. However, this issue can be mitigated by utilization of solid energy storage materials to enhance the energy storage capacity. In this paper we ...

A combined computational-experimental approach determines k 0 from cyclic voltammetry ( α + β ≠ 1), validated with the ferro/ferricyanide couple.

Three alkali cations, potassium, sodium, and lithium, have been separated within 15 s in a 1 cm long polymer microchip. The separation microchannel is modified by a polycation, poly(allylammonium chloride), which makes the channel surfaces positively charged leading to a reversed electroosmotic flow (EOF) when compared to bare channels. Due to the decreased apparent mobility of the cations, the separation resolution is improved allowing the use of shorter channels.

Rarely reported low-cost molybdenum boride and carbide microparticles, both of which are available in abundant quantities due to their widespread use in industry, adsorb at aqueous acid–1,2-dichloroethane interfaces and efficiently catalyse the hydrogen ev ...

Batteries play an increasingly important role not only for mobility applications, but also for large-scale stationary electricity storage. The purpose of this tutorial review is to recall the fundamental electrochemical aspects of these energy storage devices.

Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) was used to image silver-stained proteins on a poly(vinylidene difluoride) membrane. The method is based on measuring the current at a scanning microelectrode in the feedback mode. The electrochemical feedback is ...

A photosensitive plate based on sintered TiO2 nanoparticles has been developed to carry out in-source photo-induced reductions for cleavage of disulfide bridges using glucose as a hole scavenger during laser desorption ionization. ...

Specialized microelectrode probes fabricated in a soft polymer film now make it possible to use scanning electrochemical microscopy to image the reactivity of large, corrugated, tilted, and dry surfaces. ...

A dual-channel electrospray microchip has been developed for electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) where aqueous samples are mixed at the Taylor cone with an organic buffer. Due to the fast and effective mixing in the Taylor cone, the aqueous ...

Electrospray ionisation (ESI) is a soft technique used in mass spectrometry (MS) analysis able to introduce a wide variety of analytes in the gas phase. Briefly, it consists in the application of a high- voltage to a solution to spray it through a small or ...

In this work, a simple procedure for the preparation of an inkjet printed disposable graphene electrode is reported. Commercial graphene ink was printed on a kapton substrate and the resulting electrode was 30 min treated by oxygen plasma, then modified by ...

We present a non-invasive electrochemical strategy for mapping the antioxidant (AO) activity of apple peels, which counterbalances oxidative stress caused by various external effectors. Soft carbon microelectrodes were used for soft probe scanning electroc ...

Face to face: Flakes of reduced graphene oxide, synthesized in situ at the liquid/liquid interface from a graphene-oxide precursor, are capable of catalyzing the biphasic reduction of protons to hydrogen peroxide in the presence of molecular oxygen and an ...

A biocompatible interface was constructed on a microchip by using the layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly of charged polysaccharides incorporating proteases for highly efficient proteolysis. The controlled assembly of natural polyelectrolytes and the enzyme-adso ...

The derivatization of cysteine-containing peptides with benzoquinone compounds is rapid, quantitative and specific in acidic media. The conversion of cysteines into hydrophobic benzoquinone-adducted residues in peptides is used here to alter the chromatogr ...
