A method based on photogeneration of OH radicals in water from TiO2 nanoparticles was developed to study the kinetics of oxidation of organic molecules which were used as biological antioxidants. The kinetics of oxidation of terephthalic acid as a referenc ...

We report the observation of the reversible adsorption of core-shell gold-silver nanoparticles at the polarized water/1,2-dichloroethane interface using the nonlinear optical technique of surface second-harmonic generation. This study unambiguously demonst ...

Molecular oxygen (O2) reduction by decamethylferrocene (DMFc) was investigated at a polarized water/ 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface. Electrochemical results point to a mechanism similar to the EC type reaction at the conventional electrode/solution int ...

The four-electron reduction of oxygen by tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) in acidified 1,2-dichloroethane and at the acidified water/1,2-dichloroethane interface has been observed. Spectroscopy and ion transfer voltammetry results suggest that the reaction proceed ...

Lysozyme can be electrochemically detected after adsorption at an electrified gel-water interface. Ex-situ characterization by electrostatic spray ionization mass spectrometry provides insights into the interfacial detection mechanism by allowing changes t ...

Voltammetric sandwich assays were constructed by integrating capture bioreceptors-conjugated magnetic nanocomposites, namely Fe3O4/MIL-101(Fe)-(NH)(CO)-COOH (FO/MOF) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)labeled detection antibodies on an eight-well screen-printed ...

An electrostatic-spray ionization (ESTASI) method has been used for mass spectrometry (MS) analysis of samples deposited in or on an insulating substrate. The ionization is induced by a capacitive coupling between an electrode and the sample. In practice, ...

Electrochemical or photo-electrochemical reactions in both electrospray ionization and laser desorption ionization are discussed stressing the role of the electrode reaction in influencing the ionization process. In particular, upon application of a high v ...

The present work describes the application of scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) in the feedback mode to determine the kinetics of oxygen reduction at or near the liquid/liquid interface – between water and 1,2-dichloroethane (w/DCE). The system co ...

Capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) are two techniques highly suitable for the separation and detection of intact proteins. Herein, based on the use of a recently introduced iont ...

Hydrogen or hydrogen peroxide can be generated in liquid-liquid biphasic systems, where the organic phase contains sufficiently strong electron donor (whose redox potential is lower than the potential of reversible hydrogen electrode). H2O2 generation with ...

The electroosmotic flow in laminated excimer laser-ablated microchannels has been studied as a function of the depth of the rectangular channels, and particular emphasis has been given to the difference in the ζ-potentials between the lamination layer and ...

Herein we report a theoretical study of diode-like behavior of negatively charged (e.g., glass or silica) nanopores at different potential scan rates (1-1000 V center dot s(-1)). Finite element simulations were used to determine current-voltage characteris ...

The transfer reactions of various anionic hexavalent chromium species across a polarized water/polyvinylchloride-2-nitrophenyloctylether (PVC-NPOE) interface featuring a 66 microhole array are described for the development of selective and sensitive Cr(VI) ...

Facilitated ammonium ion transfer reactions, using the crown ether dibenzo-18-crown-6, at a single microhole supported water/1,2-dichloroethane interface were used as the transducer to detect the biomolecule creatinine. The ammonium ion was produced during the enzymatic action of creatinine deiminase on creatinine. A prototype sensing device incorporating a Teflon gas permeable membrane, to exclude possible interferents, yielded a linear amperometric response to added creatinine from 20 uM to 1 mM. This ran

A battery utilizing the Galvani potential difference between aqueous and organic phases is demonstrated. The battery consists of two organic redox electrolytes separated by an immiscible aqueous phase. The charge is stored by transferring a salt from the a ...

This work describes a new sensitive sensor for the simultaneous electrochemical determination by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions in aqueous solution, based on a disposable ink-jet-printed graphene electrode (IPGE) modifed by ...

Herein, we present the large scale fabrication of carbon nanotubes (CNT) electrodes supported on flexible polymeric sheets by subsequent multilayer inkjet printing of a silver layer for electrical connection, CNT layers as active electrode material and an ...

A polycarbonate (PC) microchannel network supporting gold nanowires was developed to be a SERSactive microchip. Observations of large increases in a Raman cross-section, allowed us to collect vibrational signatures which are not easily detectable by Raman ...

An electrospray microchip for mass spectrometry comprising an integrated passive mixer to carry out on-chip chemical derivatizations is described. The microchip fabricated using UV-photoablation is composed of two microchannels linked together by a liquid ...
