Owing to their exceptional mechanical, electronic, and phononic transport properties, compositionally complex alloys, including high-entropy alloys, represent an important class of materials. However, the interplay between chemical disorder and electronic ...

We present the resistivity measurements on single crystals of Sr2RuO4-delta, grown by the flux technique. We discuss the striking, linear temperature dependence of resistivity that persists up to similar to 1050 K. The superconductivity in this system is confined below 1 K. This result suggests that the non-Fermi-liquid-alike linear temperature dependence of resistivity is not an exclusive signature of the anomalous normal stare of high-T-c cuprates but rather of layered oxides in general, especially perovs

Recent interest in potassium-doped p-terphenyl has been fueled by reports of superconductivity at T-c values surprisingly high for organic compounds. Despite these interesting properties, studies of the structure-function relationships within these materia ...

Since materials science is of great importance, the application of composite materials based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is widely investigated. Current work is aimed at preparing nanocomposites of TiO2/MWCNT using an impregnation method combined with slow ...

Cubic ZnMnO3 powder in the form of well-crystalline nanoflakes have been synthesized at low temperatures from a nitrate precursor. The electrical properties of cubic ZuMnO(3) samples have been established by DC resistivity (rho) and thermo-electric power ( ...

The synthesis and structural and physical properties of iron lanthanide oxypnictide superconductors, L4Fe2As2Te1-xO4 (L = Pr, Sm, Gd), with transition temperature at similar to 25 K are reported. Single crystals have been grown at high pressure using the c ...

We report the first selective growth of nanographite petals and various carbon nanomaterials onto a multipanel electrochemical platform. Different types of nanomaterials can be obtained by fine-tuning the growth parameters of the chemical vapor deposition ...

We report resistivity, thermoelectric power, and thermal conductivity of MoS2 single crystals prepared by the chemical vapor transport (CVT) method using I-2, Br-2, and TeCl4 as transport agents. The material presents low-lying donor and acceptor levels, w ...

Recently we found strong evidence in favor of a BCS-like condensation of excitons in 1T-TiSe2 [Cercellier , Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 146403 (2007)]. Theoretical photoemission intensity maps have been generated by the spectral function calculated within the exc ...

We studied the temperature stability of the endohedral fullerene molecule N@C-60 inside single-wall carbon nanotubes using electron-spin-resonance spectroscopy. We found that the nitrogen escapes at higher temperatures in the encapsulated material as compa ...

We study the Brownian motion of microbeads immersed in water and in a viscoelastic wormlike micelles solution by optical trapping interferometry and diffusing wave spectroscopy. Through the mean-square displacement obtained from both techniques, we deduce ...

We report a comprehensive in vitro study of the photo-oxidative stress on different biomolecular and cellular targets generated in the presence of fullerol C-60(OH)(n), a novel, fullerene-based and water-soluble sensitizer of singlet oxygen ((1)Delta(g)). ...

A composite epoxy resin consisting in a SU-8 epoxy resin, a solvent, with or without photoinitiator and carbon nanotubes in powder. When the resin is combined with the carbon nanotubes, the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of the nanocomposite ...

We report the synthesis and crystal structure of an organic–inorganic compound, ethylenediammonium lead iodide, NH3CH2CH2NH3PbI4. Synchrotron-based single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments revealed that the pristine and thermally treated crystals diffe ...

We present local and non-local electron transport measurements on individual multi-wall nanotubes for bias voltages between 0 and about 4 V. Local current–voltage characteristics are quite linear. In contrast, non-local measurements are highly nonlinear; t ...

We present the fabrication and high frequency characterization of a capacitive nanoelectromechanical system (NEMS) switch using a dense array of horizontally aligned single-wall carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The nanotubes are directly grown onto metal layers wi ...

C59N magnetic fullerenes were formed inside single-wall carbon nanotubes by vacuum annealing functionalized C59N molecules encapsulated inside the tubes. A hindered, anisotropic rotation of C59N was deduced from the temperature dependence of the electron s ...

A combined resistivity and hard x-ray diffraction study of superconductivity and charge ordering in Ir Ir1−xPtxTe2, as a function of Pt substitution and externally applied hydrostatic pressure, is presented. Experiments are focused on samples near the crit ...

Magnetotransport measurements in large diameter multiwall carbon nanotubes (20–40 nm) demonstrate the competition of a magnetic-field dependent bandstructure and Altshuler–Aronov–Spivak oscillations. By means of an efficient capacitive coupling to a backga ...
