We report on the development of hydrogenated n-type amorphous and microcrystalline silicon oxides ((n)-SiOx:H and (n) mu c-SiOx:H, respectively) by PECVD, and their successful integration as n-window layers for silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells devi ...

The fine-tuning of halide perovskite materials for both performance and stability calls for innovative tools that streamline high-throughput experimentation. Here, we present two complementary systems designed to accelerate the development of solution-proc ...

UV imprinting is an interesting, low cost technique to produce large area thin film solar cells incorporating nanometric textures. Here, we review and present new results confirming that replicas of the most common textures used in photovoltaics can be obt ...

The imprinting of random square based pyramidal textures with micrometric scale at the air/glass interface of thin film silicon solar cells is presented as an efficient alternative to anti-reflective coatings to minimize reflection losses at the cell entra ...

Light management is of crucial importance to reach high efficiencies with thin-film silicon multijunction solar cells. In this contribution, we present light-management strategies that we recently developed. This includes high quality absorber materials, low-refractive index intermediate reflectors, and highly transparent multiscale electrodes. Specifically, we show the fabrication of high-efficiency tandem devices with a certified stabilized efficiency of 12.6%, triple-junction solar cells with a stabilize

Vapor phase deposition of formamidinium-rich perovskites is hampered by the decomposition of formamidine in the vapor phase. We use the reversibility of this reaction to establish a dynamic equilibrium that enables the vapor-phase synthesis of formamidiniu ...

To improve the accuracy of bifacial gain estimation, recent radiative models of solar energy systems have abandoned the traditional assumption of isotropic ground-reflected radiance. However, surface reflectance itself is still commonly considered as a con ...

We demonstrate an experimental 12-cell silicon-perovskite 3-terminal tandem string with an individual cell size of 24.5 cm2 in a 2/1s voltage matched configuration. Based on the experimentally measured data we calibrate a string level SPCIE model, which we use to compare 3-terminal tandem strings to their 2-terminal equivalent.

This work investigates halide segregation in methylammonium-free wide bandgap perovskites by photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and advanced electron microscopy techniques. Our study reveals how the formation of nano-emitting low-energy domains embedde ...

The present invention relates to a solar module comprising a front sheet (30), an amorphous silicon photoelectric device (32) comprising at least a transparent front electrode layer (34), a p-type doped silicon layer (36), an intrinsic silicon layer (38), ...

We present optical properties and microstructure analyses of hydrogenated silicon suboxide layers containing silicon nanocrystals (nc-SiOx:H). This material is especially adapted for the use as intermediate reflecting layer (IRL) in micromorph silicon tand ...

The conflict between PV installations and other land uses, such as forestry or agriculture, highlights the urgency for alternative solutions. Integrating PV technology into the built environment is a compelling strategy to mitigate these challenges, enabli ...

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems represent considerable potential for energy savings, which can be realized through intelligent occupancy-centered control strategies. In this work, both supervised and unsupervised algorithms to forecast oc ...

Optical absorptance spectroscopy of polycrystalline CH3NH3PbI3 films usually indicates the presence of a PbI2 phase, either as a preparation residue or due to film degradation, but gives no insight on how this may affect electrical properties. Here, we app ...

The window-layer stack limits the efficiency of both-side-contacted silicon heterojunction solar cells. We discuss here the combination of several modifications to this stack to improve its optoelectronic performance. These include the introduction of a na ...

The utilisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the energy sector is gaining momentum, with increasingly intensive search for suitable, high-quality and trustworthy solutions that displayed promising results in research. The growing interes ...

Monolithic perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem solar cells hold great promise for further performance improvement of well-established silicon photovoltaics; however, monolithic tandem integration is challenging, evidenced by the modest performances and s ...

We give an overview on recent progress in the synthesis, fabrication and integration of advanced nanostructured materials for efficient light trapping in high-efficiency thin-film silicon solar cells.

38th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 573-577 Recent studies showed that silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells may be prone to potential induced degradation (PID), when encapsulated with a low volume resistivity ethylene vin ...

We studied solar cells with periodic interface texture. For periods of 550 and 833 nm, we found that the measured photocurrent increases under oblique incidence and assumes a maximum between 20 and 30°. For the geometries used in our experiments, the initi ...
