Efficiencies of solar cells based on organometallic halide perovskite absorber material have dramatically increased over the past few years. Most of efficiencies reported so far have, however, been obtained on solar cells with very small lab-scale area of ...

We present a comparison between spectrally-resolved reflection measurements of gratings and theoretical predictions from RCWA approach. Diffraction intensities vary significantly with polarization, and surface plasmon absorption is observed around the onse ...

Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) are dual purpose, providing both energy and building functions. Aesthetics play a crucial role in the BIPV market, with increasing demand for uniformly colored modules for building skins. Achieving this requires hid ...

Recent studies showed that silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells can be prone to potential induced degradation (PID) when encapsulated with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). Here, to gain understanding in the role of EVA, we perform PID test in humid condit ...

Copper electroplating is investigated and compared with common silver printing techniques for the front metallization of silicon heterojunction solar cells. We achieve smaller feature sizes by electroplating, significantly reducing optical shadowing losses ...

We demonstrate self-patterned insulating nanoparticle layers to define local electrical interconnects in thin-film electronic devices. We show this with thin-film silicon tandem solar cells, where we introduce between the two component cells a solution-pro ...

Affordable, stable and earth-abundant photo-electrochemical materials are indispensable for the large-scale implementation of sunlight-driven hydrogen production. Here we present an intrinsically stable and scalable solar water splitting device that is ful ...

Some layers of thin film photovoltaic modules maybe critically sensitive to moisture. In this study we present a new tool for monitoring the effect of moisture using a particular Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) as a sensor. The moisture content of the e ...

We report a two-step thermal evaporation–close space sublimation deposition method for tunable bandgap lead halide perovskites with single junction solar cell efficiencies exceeding 20%. These absorbers are integrated into perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells with stabilized efficiencies of >29%.

We present and experimentally validate a computational model for the light propagation in thin-film solar cells that integrates non-paraxial scalar diffraction theory with non-sequential ray-tracing. The model allows computing the spectral layer absorbance ...

Silicon wafer wire-sawing experiments were realized with different sets of sawing parameters, and the thickness, roughness, and cracks depth of the wafers were measured. The results are discussed in relation to assumptions underlying the rolling-indenting ...

A growth model for the low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) of polycrystalline ZnO thin films is proposed. This model is based on experimental observations of the surface morphology and crystallographic orientations of the layers at different thi ...

The present invention relates to a solar cell comprising a semiconductor wafer (1), an emitter formed by at least one emitter region (20) which comprises at least a first layer (3) of a first conductivity type and a first contact layer (4) allowing a carri ...

Thin two-dimensional (2D) material absorbers have the potential to reduce volume-dependent thermal noise in infrared detectors. However, any reduction in noise must be balanced against lower absorption from the thin layer, which necessitates advanced optic ...

The influences of the deposition pressure and silane depletion on the efficiency of single-junction microcrystalline silicon solar cells has been investigated. The efficiency is found to correlate with the ion energy which affects the density of states in ...

The technique of alloying FA+ with Cs+ is often used to promote structural stabilization of the desirable alpha-FAPbI3 phase in halide perovskite devices. However, the precise mechanisms by which these alloying approaches improve the optoelectronic quality ...

To assess the meaningfulness of installing solar photovoltaics in buildings and infrastructures, we consider a carbon intensity (CI) balance perspective and assess whether installing PV at different orientations acts as a net CO2 sink or source, when compa ...
