We propose two deep learning models that fully automate shape parameterization for aerodynamic shape optimization. Both models are optimized to parameterize via deep geometric learning to embed human prior knowledge into learned geometric patterns, elimina ...

Object-centric learning has gained significant attention over the last years as it can serve as a powerful tool to analyze complex scenes as a composition of simpler entities. Well-established tasks in computer vision, such as object detection or instance ...

Physically-based rendering algorithms generate photorealistic images of virtual scenes. By simulating light paths in a scene, complex physical effects such as shadows, reflections and volumetric scattering can be reproduced. Over the last decade, physicall ...

In this paper, we develop a new LUT-based optimization flow tailored for the synthesis of ASICs rather than FPGAs. We enhance LUT-mapping to consider the literal/AIG cost of LUT-nodes. We extend traditional Boolean methods to simplify and re-shape LUT-netw ...

Most current software support the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) transfer of Building Information Models (BIMs) to applications enabling Virtual Reality (VR) navigation (BuildingSMART, 2020; Kiviniemi, Tarandi, Karlshøj, Bell, and Karud, 2008; Poljanšek ...

We introduce a novel transmittance model to improve the volumetric representation of 3D scenes. The model can represent opaque surfaces in the volumetric light transport framework. Volumetric representations are useful for complex scenes, and become increa ...

Physically based rendering is a process for photorealistic digital image synthesis and one of the core problems in computer graphics. It involves simulating the light transport, i.e. the emission, propagation, and scattering of light through a virtual scen ...

Modern information technologies and human-centric communication systems employ advanced content representations for richer portrayals of the real world. The newly adopted imaging modalities offer additional information cues and permit the depiction of real ...

Realistic rendering using discrete reflectance measurements is challenging, because arbitrary directions on the light and view hemispheres are queried at render time, incurring large memory requirements and the need for interpolation. This explains the des ...

Omnidirectional imaging has reached a level of widespread availability driven by recent advances in integrated circuit technology, image sensors, and computer graphics which allow now capturing, rendering and displaying of such type of immersive content in ...

Physically based spectral rendering has become increasingly important in recent years. However, asset textures in such systems are usually still drawn or acquired as RGB tristimulus values. While a number of RGB to spectrum upsampling techniques are availa ...

A method for screen-space voxel ray-casting of scenes on a whole screen. The method comprises providing a graphics card; rendering seamlessly any one of the following list of primitives containing at least polygons, voxels; using a GPU pipeline of the grap ...

In the ever-evolving world of computer rendering technologies, the demand for more original and diverse 3D models is ever-increasing, to the point where the man-hours required to create these models for video games, movies and architectural designs are now ...

Ongoing advances in imaging techniques create new demands regarding the analysis of images in medicine and biology. Image segmentation is a key step of many image analysis pipelines and its proper execution is a particularly challenging task. This thesis i ...

Modern rendering systems are confronted with a dauntingly large and growing set of requirements: in their pursuit of realism, physically based techniques must increasingly account for intricate properties of light, such as its spectral composition or polar ...

By benefiting from perceptual losses, recent studies have improved significantly the performance of the super-resolution task, where a high-resolution image is resolved from its low-resolution counterpart. Although such objective functions generate near-ph ...

Point clouds have been gaining importance as a solution to the problem of efficient representation of 3D geometric and visual information. They are commonly represented by large amounts of data, and compression schemes are important for their manipulation ...

The method for drawing a fiber with a textured surface comprises the following steps: - forming of a preform from which the fiber is to be drawn with a textured surface; - addition of an outer layer to the textured preform to preserve the shape of the text ...

Many signal processing problems involve data whose underlying structure is non-Euclidean, but may be modeled as a manifold or (combinatorial) graph. For instance, in social networks, the characteristics of users can be modeled as signals on the vertices of ...

Many image acquisition techniques used in biomedical imaging, material analysis, and structural geology are capable of acquiring 3D solid images. Computational analysis of these images is complex but necessary, since it is difficult for humans to visualize ...
