Recently, various digital solutions have emerged to enhance the process of self-refection, which can be crucial for personal growth and resilience. However, whether technology can meaningfully match or augment a traditional approach like pen or paper remai ...

Effective power management is crucial in designing wirelessly powered implants that have a long operational lifetime. It ensures that the received power is optimized for efficient operation and prevents damage caused by excessive or insufficient powering. ...

The tokamak a configuration variable (TCV) continues to leverage its unique shaping capabilities, flexible heating systems and modern control system to address critical issues in preparation for ITER and a fusion power plant. For the 2019-20 campaign its c ...

The influence of background plasma poloidal rotation on the rotation frequency of the m/n = 2/1 drift tearing mode (DTM) has been studied in ADITYA-U tokamak. The poloidal rotation velocity of the background plasma in the ion diamagnetic direction is incre ...

Kinetic equilibrium reconstruction (KER) in tokamaks is the solution of the free-boundary MHD equilibrium that best fits the external magnetic measurements and the internal plasma profiles as imposed from modeling and/or available internal measurements. In ...

The aim of the present study is to analyze the stability of the pressure gradient driven modes (PM) and Alfven eigenmodes (AE) in the large helical device (LHD) plasma if the rotational transform profile is modified by the current drive of the tangential n ...

In this paper we present a novel algorithm to extract the optical plasma boundary and radiation front for detached divertor plasmas. We show that reliable detection of the divertor leg and radiation front is possible using lightweight image processing tool ...

The self-consistent core-pedestal prediction model of a combination of EPED1 type pedestal prediction and a simple stiff core transport model is able to predict Type I ELMy (edge localized mode) pedestals of a large JET-ILW (ITER-like wall) database at the ...

Macroscopic instabilities and their unfavourable effects on plasma confinement pose a central challenge for the development of reactor relevant tokamak scenarios. Some promising operation scenarios feature extended regions of low magnetic shear. These are ...

Alfven eigenmodes driven by energetic particles are routinely observed in tokamak plasmas. These modes consist of poloidal harmonics of shear Alfven waves coupled by inhomogeneity in the magnetic field. Further coupling is introduced by 3D inhomogeneities ...

Two high performance JET-ILW pulses, pertaining to the 2016 experimental campaign, have been numerically simulated with the self-consistent code COREDIV with the aim of predicting the ELM-averaged power load to the target when extrapolated to DT plasmas. T ...

Diagnostic alkali atom (e.g., lithium) beams are routinely used to diagnose magnetically confined plasmas, namely, to measure the plasma electron density profile in the edge and the scrape off layer region. A light splitting optics system was installed int ...

A new method for safe electrical neural stimulation is proposed. A negative feedback is used to automatically produce short anodic pulses according to the remaining voltage. The period of the short anodic pulses varies according to the remaining voltage. T ...

The turbulent plasma dynamics in the periphery of a fusion device plays a key role in determining its overall performance. In fact, the periphery controls the heat load on the vessel walls, the plasma confinement, the level of impurities in the core, the ...

Resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) and error field correction (EFC) produced by toroidally and poloidally distributed coil systems can be optimized if each coil is powered with an independent power supply. A 3D multi-mode geometry-independent Lagrange me ...

The stability and the dimensioning of a step-down switching voltage regulator feedback loop remain a complex task. An analytical approach allows dimensioning of all the components, strongly facilitating this task. In this article, a mathematical analysis i ...

The objective of the thesis is to study the possibility of using input-output feedback linearization techniques for controlling nonlinear nonminimum-phase systems. Two methods are developed. The first one is based on an approximate input-output feedback li ...
