It relies on small-molecule chemicals to gain an in-depth understanding of biology, and provides new tools and products ranging from basic research to therapeutics. Synthetic and applied microbiology BIOENG-408 Synthetic microbiology aims at constructing microbes with new-to-nature functions to provide sustainable solutions for societal challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity and disease.
