With the ever-increasing production of electronics, there is an ensuing need for gold extraction from sources other than virgin mines. Currently, there are no technologies reported to date that can effectively and selectively concentrate ultratrace amounts ...

The present invention relates to a method for synthesis of a metal organic framework composite comprising the folowing steps: a) Synthesize a metal organic framework; b) Make a polymer grow on said metal organic framework, said polymer being chosen among p ...

Every year vast quantities of silver are lost in various waste streams; this, combined with its limited, diminishing supply and rising demand, makes silver recovery of increasing importance. Thus, herein, we report a controllable, green process to produce ...

Herein, a post-synthetic modification strategy is used to covalently graft polyamines, including ethylenediamine (ED), diethylenetriamine (DETA), tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (TAEA), and polyethyleneimine (PEI) to the amino-ligand inside of a Cr-MOF, NH2-Cr-BDC ...

Metal-organic frameworks are of interest in a number of host-guest applications. However, their weak coordination bonding often leads to instability in aqueous environments, particularly at extreme pH, and hence, is a challenging topic in the field. In thi ...

The escalating level of CO2 in the atmosphere is one of the most critical environmental issues of our age. The carbon capture and storage from pilot test plants represents an option for reducing CO2 emissions, however, the energy cost associated with post- ...

We report a one-step synthetic strategy to encapsulate copper nanocrystals (Cu NCs) in a carboxylate-based metal organic framework (MOF-74) to construct Cu@Cu-MOF-74 hybrids. One of the hurdles to realizing metal NC@MOF hybrids with uniform morphology and ...

The present invention concerns a perovskite solar cell provided with a polymer-porous template composite material for absorbing toxic metal ions. Preferably, the porous template material is a metal oxide framework (MOF) material. An example of a preferred ...

The number of synthetic strategies used to functionalize MOFs with polymers is rapidly growing; this stems from the knowledge that non-native polymeric guests can significantly boost MOF performance in a number of desirable applications. The current work p ...

Aminated derivatives of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural are critical intermediates for the pharmaceutical industry. The state-of-the-art catalysts currently used for these syntheses are mostly homogeneous in nature, motivating the design of recy ...

Introducing oligomeric or polymeric units into metal- organic frameworks (MOFs) can result in composites that have significantly improved properties when compared with the individual MOF or polymer building blocks. With such synergy in mind, this work pres ...

A double solvent method is for the first time used to synthesize a polymer composite that is constructed by a Ni-pyrazolate MOF and polydopamine (PDA). The resulting composite shows significantly enhanced water and CO2 adsorption properties compared to the ...

In this contribution, recent advances in the construction of MOF-polymer composites and their corresponding applications are briefly reviewed. The appearance of such architectures is becoming prominent in recent literature, due to the fact that the union o ...

he present invention relates to a composite for extracting one or more metal or contaminating chemical species from an aerial or aqueous medium by selective binding, said composite comprising at least one porous template functionalized by at least one poly ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are versatile nanoporous materials that have gained significant interest as low heat capacity, high selectivity sorbents for CO2 capture applications. Large-scale atomistic simulations for identifying high-performance MOFs a ...

Rigidtritopic linkers of different sizes were used to buildporous U-(IV) and Th-(IV) 3D frameworks. The charge of the polymerscould be tuned by reaction conditions such as the temperature, pH,solvent, ligand, or metal precursor, yielding a series of neutra ...

Transition-metal phosphides have received tremendous attention during the past few years because they are earth-abundant, cost-effective, and show outstanding catalytic performance in several electrochemically driven conversions including hydrogen evolutio ...

High internal surface areas, an asset that is highly sought after in material design, has brought metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to the forefront of materials research. In fact, a major focus in the field is on creating innovative ways to maximize MOF sur ...

Here we show that sub-micron coatings of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) and even ZIF-ZIF bilayers can be grown directly on polymers of intrinsic microporosity from zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocrystal precursor films, yielding a new class of all-microporou ...

Functionalizing metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with amines is a commonly used strategy to enhance their performance in CO2 capture applications. As such, in this work, a two-step strategy to covalently functionalize NH2-containing MOFs with short chain po ...
