Predicting the grasping function during reach-to-grasp motions is essential for controlling a prosthetic hand or a robotic assistive device. An early accurate prediction increases the usability and the comfort of a prosthetic device. This work proposes an ...

Half of human spinal cord injuries lead to chronic paralysis. Here, we introduce an electrochemical neuroprosthesis and a robotic postural interface designed to encourage supraspinally-mediated movements in rats with paralyzing lesions. Despite the interru ...

Integrated closed-loop real-time limb neuro-prosthetic system comprising an artificial limb, a microprocessor, sensors, a signal conditioner, a stimulator, at least one EMG electrode and at least one sensory feedback electrode, characterized by the fact th ...

Soft actuators made of highly elastic polymers allow novel robotic system designs, yet application-specific soft robotic systems are rarely reported. Taking notice of the characteristics of soft pneumatic actuators (SPAs) such as high customizability and l ...

Electromyography (EMG) has been used as an interface for the control of robotic hands for decades but with the improvement of embedded electronics and decoding algorithms, many applications are now envisaged by companies. Deep learning has shown the possib ...

The present invention provides a closed-loop system for real-time control of epidural and/or subdural electrical stimulation comprising: means for applying to a subject neuromodulation with adjustable stimulation parameters, said means being operatively co ...

A method for remotely controlling an operated unmanned object, comprises defining of a set of control movements of an operator; selecting of minimal necessary signals to reliably acquire the operator's control movements; defining of a mapping of the contro ...

Humans rely on their sense of touch to interact with the environment. Thus, restoring lost tactile sensory capabilities in amputees would advance their quality of life. In particular, texture discrimination is an important component for the interaction wit ...

The use of hands for gathering rich sensory information is essential for proper interaction with the environment; therefore, the restoration of sensation is critical for reestablishing the sense of embodiment in hand amputees. Here, we show that a noninvas ...

The present disclosure relates to a neuromodulation and/or neurostimulation system comprising at least the following components: at least one sensing unit, at least control unit, at least one stimulation unit, at least one Central Nervous System (CNS) stim ...

Robotic fingers and arms that augment the motor abilities of non-disabled individuals are increasingly feasible yet face neurocognitive barriers and hurdles in efferent motor control. ...

Objective: To investigate the effects of transcutaneous spinal direct current stimulation (tsDCS) on spinal cord excitability using neurophysiological methods. Methods: Spinal cord motoneuron excitability was assessed using various neurophysiological techn ...
