The current diagnostic criteria for multiple sclerosis (MS) lack specificity, and this may lead to misdiagnosis, which remains an issue in present-day clinical practice. In addition, conventional biomarkers only moderately correlate with MS disease progres ...

Purpose To study the effects of magnetization transfer (MT, in which a semi-solid spin pool interacts with the free pool), in the context of magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF). Methods Simulations and phantom experiments were performed to study the im ...

PURPOSE: To introduce a new k-space traversal strategy for segmented three-dimensional echo planar imaging (3D EPI) that encodes two partitions per radiofrequency excitation, effectively reducing the number excitations used to acquire a 3D EPI dataset by h ...

Background: Use of a T2 mapping sequence in addition to the conventional knee MRI protocol increases sensitivity to early cartilage lesions but is time consuming. ...

Purpose To obtain whole-brain high-resolution T-2 maps in 2 minutes by combining simultaneous multislice excitation and low-power PINS (power independent of number of slices) refocusing pulses with undersampling and a model-based reconstruction. Methods A ...

We propose a motion-detection technique which, in contrast to previously suggested methods, is based on motion-induced free induction decay (FID) signal changes in receive coil arrays with negligible impact on scanning performance. ...

Notwithstanding its great success in diagnostic routine and research, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) still faces challenges. In this context, the present thesis studies new approaches to mitigate the motion susceptibility of MRI. Furthermore, ...

Accurate characterization of in utero human brain maturation is critical as it involves complex interconnected structural and functional processes that may influence health later in life. Magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful tool complementary to the u ...

Background The corpus callosum (CC) is a key brain structure. In children with neurodevelopmental delay, we compared standard qualitative radiological assessments with an automatic quantitative tool. Methods We prospectively enrolled 73 child ...

At high magnetic field strengths (≥3T), the radiofrequency wavelength used in MRI is of the same order of magnitude of (or smaller than) the typical sample size, making transmit magnetic field (B 1+) inhomogeneities more prominent. Methods such as radiofre ...

This work investigates the possibility of using FID navigator signals to improve the performance of a recently proposed autofocusing-based retrospective motion correction technique. FID navigators were incorporated into an MP-RAGE sequence and 3 subjects w ...

Differences in acquisition protocols or hardware result in measurable changes in image characteristics. These differences affect distributional properties and can also affect the spatial and temporal characteristics of the images. Likewise, the distributio ...

Background and purpose. - Automated synthetic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides qualitative, weighted image contrasts as well as quantitative information from one scan and is well-suited for various applications such as analysis of white matter dis ...

Purpose: To develop a novel framework for rapid, intrinsic head motion measurement in MRI using FID navigators (FIDnavs) from a multichannel head coil array. ...

Federated learning allows for training deep learning models from various sources (e.g., hospitals) without sharing patient information, but only the model weights. Two central problems arise when sending the updated weights to the central node in a federat ...

Introduction: The fluid and white matter suppression sequence (FLAWS) provides two T1-weighted co-registered datasets: a white matter (WM) suppressed contrast (FLAWS1) and a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) suppressed contrast (FLAWS2). FLAWS has the potential to ...

Objective In this perfusion magnetic resonance imaging study, the performances of different pseudo-continuous arterial spin labeling (PCASL) sequences were compared: two-dimensional (2D) single-shot readout with simultaneous multislice (SMS), 2D single-sho ...

Background: Often used for T1 mapping of hip cartilage, three-dimensional (3D) dual-flip-angle (DFA) techniques are highly sensitive to flip angle variations related to B-1 inhomogeneities. The authors hypothesized that 3D magnetization-prepared 2 rapid gr ...

Purpose To evaluate the combination of low-B1+ adiabatic pulses and high permittivity (εr ≈ 165) dielectric pads effectiveness to reproducibly improve the inversion efficiency for whole-brain MP2RAGE scans, at ultra-high field. Materials and Methods Two lo ...
