Expertise Tumor Heterogeneity and Stemness in Cancer Prof. Joerg Huelsken received his PhD in 1998 at the Humboldt University and did postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Walter Birchmeier at the Max-Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine, Berlin. He joined ISREC as an associate scientist and an NCCR project leader in January 2003 and, in 2005, was nominated Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the EPFL School of Life Sciences. Additional topics are cancer metabolism, cancer stem cells and metastasis. Practical - Huelsken Lab (EDMS) BIO-667 Assessment of signaling mechanisms in cancer. The objectives of the course are:- to understand the importance of signaling and cell-cell interactions in cancer stroma interactions- to learn techniques involved in assessing the function of such interactions in vitro and in vivo.
