The electron transport layer (ETL) is a key constituent in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). It should provide efficient and selective electron extraction, low resistivity and high stability. Here, zinc stannate (Zn2SnO4, ZSO) is employed as an ETL in planar ...

Natural systems have marvelously utilized copper complexes featuring sulfur-coordinating ligands, known as blue copper proteins, as efficient electron-transfer mediators in biological processes. Copper complexes with sulfur-coordinating ligands have been a ...

Lead halide perovskite (LHP) has gained tremendous attention from both academia and industry due to its excellent optical and electrical properties. To date, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of a small area LHP solar cell has reached 25.5%. However, l ...

Making large datasets findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable could accelerate technology development. Now, Jacobsson et al. present an approach to build an open-access database and analysis tool for perovskite solar cells. ...

The tandem heterojunction photoelectric cell has been fabricated on the basis of organic-inorganic hybrid of AlPc-H2Pc (aluminium phthalocyanine-metal free phthalocyanine) and n-Si using pressing technique along with vapor deposition. Initially, the AlPc-H ...

The achievement of high efficiency and high stability in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) requires optimal selection and evaluation of the various components. After a brief introduction to the perovskite materials and their historical evolution, the first par ...

Two new metal-free organic sensitizers, L156 and L224, were designed, synthesized, and characterized for application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The structures of the dyes contain a triphenylamine (TPA) segment and 4-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazol-4- ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) have great potential to provide sustainable electricity from sunlight. The photoanode in DSCs consists of a dye-sensitized metal oxide film deposited on a conductive substrate. This configuration makes the photoanode a per ...

Perovskite solar cells are a promising new technology for large scale energy applications. The current major challenge for commercialization is increasing the device lifetime under real working conditions. State-of-the-art perovskite solar cells are prepar ...

Ionic liquids can retard the perovskite crystallization with the aim to form compact films with larger and more uniformly distributed grain size. The ionic liquid driven crystallization is exploited to prepared a record planar perovskite solar cell with st ...

To advance the progress of photoelectrolysis, various promising devices integrated with p- and n-type photocatalysts and dye sensitized photoelectrodes have been systematically studied. This review discusses, from theory to practice, an integration strateg ...

A new Ru(II) complex, Bu4N [ruthenium (4-carboxylic acid-4'-carboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-di(2-(3,6-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(NCS)2] (N945H), was synthesized and characterized by anal., spectroscopic, and electrochem. techniques. The ab ...

Conjugated pi-spacers are used to improve the light harvesting properties of sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells. In several recent works, furan has outperformed other popular pi-spacers such as thiophene and phenyl. One of the best performing pheno ...

Studying the compositional instability of mixed ion perovskites under light illumination is important to understand the mechanisms underlying their efficiency and stability. However, current techniques are limited in resolution and are unable to deconvolut ...

Ab initio molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of the solvation of LiI3 in four different solvents (water, methanol, ethanol, and acetonitrile) are employed to investigate the molecular and electronic structure of the I-3(-) ion in relation to X-ray photoel ...

The stabilization of grain boundaries and surfaces of the perovskite layer is critical to extend the durability of perovskite solar cells. Here we introduced a sulfonium-based molecule, dimethylphenethylsulfonium iodide (DMPESI), for the post-deposition tr ...

Halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have achieved power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) approaching 26%, however, the stability issue hinders their commercialization. Due to the soft ionic nature of perovskite materials, the strain effect on perovskite fil ...

This work unveils how to quickly manufacture highly efficient and stable perovskite solar cells (PSCs) using the Flash InfraRed Annealing (FIRA) method. With FIRA, the titanium oxide mesoscopic layer can be synthesized in only 10 min, and the synthesis of ...

Hole transport matertial (HTM) as charge selective layer in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) plays an important role in achieving high power conversion efficiency (PCE). It is known that the dopants and additives are necessary in the HTM in order to improve t ...

Three-dimensional (3D) perovskite materials display remarkable potential in photovoltaics owing to their superior solar-to-electric power conversion efficiency, with current efforts focused on improving stability. Two-dimensional (2D) perovskite analogues ...
