A series of allyl-functionalized imidazolium salts are reported, including 1-allyl-3-ethylimidazolium iodide and 1-allyl-3-propylimidazolium iodide, which have m.ps. close to room temp. and show typical properties of supercooled fluids if heated above thei ...

In this viewpoint we discuss the contributions from John S. Wilkes and Michael J. Zaworotko concerning the discovery of stable ionic liquids (ILs) and their accompanying structural studies (J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1992, 965) and Robin D. Rogers and J ...

Task-specific ionic liquids bearing nitrile functional groups attached to the cation and nitrogen-donor-containing anions strongly affect the efficiency of the Stille cross-coupling, influencing the nature of the catalyst and its stability. The relative st ...

Passivation of perovskite films by ionic liquids (ILs)improves the performance (efficiency and stability) of perovskitesolar cells (PSCs). However, the role of ILs in the passivation ofperovskitefilms is not fully understood. Here, we report thereactions o ...

Fluorescent nanoparticles (FNPs) are obtained in water by self-assembly from a polymeric ionic liquid, fluorescent carboxylate moiety, and a surfactant through two main supramolecular interactions, that is, ionic bonds and hydrophobic/hydrophilic interacti ...

Direct understanding of the formation and crystallization of low-dimensional (LD) perovskites with varying dimensionalities employing the same bulky cations can offer insights into LD perovskites and their heterostructures with 3D perovskites. In this stud ...

Recent developments of the synthesis and applications of functionalized ionic liqs. (including dual-functionalized ionic liqs.) have been highlighted in this review. Ionic liqs. are attracting attention as alternative solvents in green chem., but as more f ...

A series of ether-derivatized imidazolium halides have been prepd. and characterized. Contrary to literature reports, they are all cryst. solids and have m.ps. well above room temp. (50-100 °C). Single crystals of the imidazolium salts, obtained in situ by ...

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a key platform chemical that may be obtained from various cellulosic (biomass) derivatives. Previously, it has been shown that ionic liquids (ILs) facilitate the catalytic conversion of glucose into HMF. Herein, we demonstr ...

Iron/iron phosphide nanospheres supported on ginkgo leaf-derived carbon (Fe&FeP@gl-C) are prepared using a post-phosphidation approach, with varying amounts of iron (Fe). The activity of the catalysts in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) outperforms ir ...

The reaction of chloromethyl thiocyanate with 1-methylimidazole affords the imidazolium salt, 1-thiocyanomethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, [C1SCNmim]Cl (1a). Exchange of the chloride anion in 1a by [PF6] ...

Some of the recent developments concerning the synthesis, properties and applications of functionalised ionic liqs. are highlighted. Various strategies are presented, including functionalisation of the cation, anion or both cation and anion in the same ion ...

The reaction of the iminobiphosphines RN[dbnd]>PPh2-PPh2, where R = C6H4(p-CN), C6H4(m-CN), C6H4(o-C6H5), C6F5 or C6

The invention provides ionic polymers (IP) consisting of anions and a polymeric backbone containing cations. The invention also provides the ionic polymers incorporated in membranes or attached to solid supports and use of the ionic polymers in processing ...

Nanozymes are increasingly used as components in assays and diagnostics. Here, we describe a rapid and highly sensitive colorimetric assay for the detection and quantification of glutathione (GSH) employing MnO2 nanosheets as an artificial oxidase. In the ...

H-1, P-31, and Li-7 pulsed-gradient spin-echo (PGSE) diffusion and variable-temperature NMR results for THF solutions of the lithium and potassium salts derived from diphenylphosphino(o-cyanophenyl)aniline are reported and compared to the solid-state resul ...

Dipole-dipole and hydrogen-bonding interaction reinforced (DHIR) hydrogels that demonstrate both excellent thermo-responsive volume change and high mechanical strength have been developed. Their thermo-responsive volume change originates from the balance b ...

The toxicity of ethyl-, butyl-, octyl-, benzyl-, and allyl-substituted 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium, alkylpyridinium, N-alkyl-N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium (choline derivs.) and alkyl-triethylammonium salts towards HeLa cells has been studied. The ...

A series of functionalised imidazolium halide salts with substituents able to form pi-bonds have been prepared and characterised. Subsequent reaction of these imidazolium halides with Ag[C(CN)(3)] affords imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs), some of whic ...

A series of coordination polymers contg. Group I or II metal ions, connected via an imidazolium-centered dicarboxylate ligand, have been isolated from water and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. All the structures incorporate water mols. t ...
