With the rapid development of the applications in short range communication, phased-array receiver working at 24 GHz can provide enhanced gain performance at desired transmission direction. Also there is the wide signal bandwidth, i.e. 250 MHz free license ...

This paper presents a new hybrid A/D conversion principle based on the combination of an incremental conversion for the most significant part of the result and on a cyclic conversion for the least significant part. The proposed approach exhibits a resoluti ...

The growing market of GNSS capable mobile devices is driving the interest of GNSS software solutions, as they can share many system resources (processor, memory), reducing both the size and the cost of their integration. Indeed, with the increasing perform ...

Although significant improvements in efficiency and performance of communication satellites have been achieved in the past decades, it is expected that the demand for new platforms in Geostationary Orbit (GEO) and for the On-Orbit Servicing (OOS) on the ex ...

A 4 th order Gm-C elliptic low-pass filter with a wide continuous tuning range is presented. The continuous tuning is achieved by means of a new tuning circuit which adjusts the bias current of the Gm cell's input stage to control the cut-off frequency. Wi ...

All wireless devices must comply with the local radio regulations which are set by international and national regulatory bodies such as the European Telecommunication Standardization Institute (ETSI) for Europe and the Federal Commission for Communication ...

This paper proposes, for the first time, a compact model for avalanche noise diodes that can easily be inserted in advanced CAD tools. The model is based on the theory of the Read type microwave avalanche diodes. It fully accounts for the electronic tuning ...

This paper presents a design methodology for high quality factor resonators based on operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) employed in active filters. The quality factor of a resonator, as its main specification, is translated to the requirements of ...

A few years ago an experimental platform was designed and built in order to demonstrate the feasibility of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology applied to indoor positioning. This small-scale demonstrator proved to be a valuable research tool with the flexibili ...

In recent years, global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-based navigation in high earth orbits (HEOs) has become a field of research interest since it can increase the spacecraft’s autonomy, thereby reducing the operating costs. However, the GNSS availab ...

In this research study we describe our last effort in further improving the achievable Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based navigation performance in an Earth-Moon Transfer Orbit (MTO). The GNSS-based orbital filter we implemented previously wit ...

Next generation of smart tires will improve the safety and stability of the vehicle by monitoring road parameters, such as pavement and rolling conditions, with sensors placed on tire surface. Between the tread and the metal belt of the tire there are only ...

The paper presents a CMOS sensor array for the detection of speckle movements, for applications requiring accurate movement tracking of arbitrary surfaces. The array is made of eight sensors incorporating each a spatial comb filter with a pitch of 2.8μm so ...

In this paper, a low complexity data demodulation algorithm is proposed that requires time of arrival information of the received signal exclusively. As an application example, the algorithm is applied to an ultra-wideband impulse radio communication syste ...

Reaching the Moon poses very strict requirements in terms of performance, flexibility and cost for all the spacecraft subsystems. These requirements become more stringent if the mission is designed to be accomplished using a small spacecraft. The navigatio ...

In this paper, a 4.6 GHz frequency synthesizer integrated circuit for Cesium-based miniature atomic clocks is presented. Based on a fractional-N phase-locked loop (PLL) with sigma-delta modulator, the chip features a frequency resolution below 10E-3 Hz at ...

In this work, we present the general concept of an instrumented smart knee prosthesis for in-vivo measurement of forces and kinematics. This system can be used for early monitoring of the patient after implantation and prevent possible damage to the prosth ...

The growing market of GNSS capable mobile devices is driving the interest of software receiver solutions as they can share many resources with other system units, reducing both the size and the cost of their integration. However, a major issue with the sof ...

FP7 GAMMA-A project is a European project with the objective to develop a 3-frequency GPS/Galileo receiver concept for automotive mass-market applications. This receiver shall build on the excellent properties of the new and modernized wide-band Galileo an ...

We propose an autonomous battery-less wireless sensor node that combines on a single printed circuit board an ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter and its printed antenna, together with a piezoelectric cantilever and a solar cell array to harvest vibrations an ...
