Performing chemical analysis at the nanoliter (nL) scale is of paramount importance for medicine, drug development, toxicology, and research. Despite the numerous methodologies available, a tool for obtaining chemical information non-invasively is still mi ...

The invention concerns a method and a device wherein a stencil is provided with an integrated microhotplate on the stencil membrane to prevent aperture clogging, whereby the stencil can be locally heated up in order to minimize material condensation, remov ...

The challenging fabrication of sub-100-nm structures with high aspect ratio by UV-nanoimprint lithography (NIL) is addressed in this work. Thermal shrinkage is induced by cooling the structures below room temperature to avoid the issues commonly arising du ...

We report experimental evidence for three sequential, distinct dynamic regimes in the capillary self-alignment of centimeter-sized foil dies released at large uniaxial offsets from equilibrium. We show that the initial transient wetting regime, along with ...

In this paper, a fast and inexpensive wafer-scale process for the fabrication of arrays of nanoscale holes in thin gold films for plasmonics is shown. The process combines nanosphere lithography using spin-coated polystyrene beads with a sputter-etching pro ...

Stencil lithography is used for patterning and connecting nanostructures with metallic microelectrodes in ultrahigh vacuum. Microelectrodes are fabricated by static stencil deposition through a thin silicon nitride membrane. Arbitrary nanoscale patterns ar ...

Ink-jet printing technique allows locally and precisely dispensing materials for the manufacturing of micro-scale structures. We present the fabrication of piano-convex microlenses using a hybrid organic-inorganic photo-curable polymer diluted in gamma-but ...

Predetermined and selective placement of nanoparticles onto large-area substrates with nanometre-scale precision is essential to harness the unique properties of nanoparticle assemblies, in particular for functional optical and electro-optical nanodevices. ...

We report on photo-current generation in freestanding monolayered gold nanoparticle membranes excited by using a focused laser beam. The absence of a substrate leads to a 50% increase of the photo-current at the surface plasmon resonance. This current is a ...
