Clusters containing nine lanthanide and six sodium ions are crystallized with the help of a tridentate ligand bearing a phosphonic acid group; the structure of the EuIII compound reveals a host-guest assembly Eu⊂Na6Eu8L16 with a substantial quantum yield ( ...

The need for efficient and photostable lanthanide luminescent materials is dramatically increasing, in particular with respect to their growing application in lighting devices and biosciences. To this end, we have developed a facile synthesis of benzimidaz ...

Giving the green light: The connection of two CrIII sensitizers around a central ErIII acceptor in a self-assembled cation provides high local metal concentrations that favor efficient nonlinear energy transfer upconversion luminescence (see picture). Upon selective low-energy near-infrared irradiation of CrIII-centered transitions, 1 displays an unprecedented molecular two-photon upconverted green ErIII-centered emission. Derivatives of dipicolinic acid with a polyoxyethylene pendant arm at the pyridine 4-position have been functionalized for potential grafting with biological material. Four ligands with different terminal functions (alcohol, methoxy, phtalimide and amine) ...

The novel hydroxyquinoline-containing tetrapodal ligand forms water soluble and stable chelates and is a good sensitizer of the NIR luminescence of its NdIII and YbIII complexes; its easy synthesis opens the way for potential biomedical applications. ...

The implementation of four bidentate building blocks into a highdenticity linker with a flexible spacer leads to a predisposed ligand that allows one to direct the self- assembly of 1D functional coordination polymers. This is illustrated by the assembly u ...
